Sorceror
Sorceror is a format described in this article on making your own MtG format, and personally, I find it really intriguing. It's basically a 61-card version of Commander where you get a Sorcery spell instead of a creature as your Commander, and you're limited to a maximum of 5 creature cards in your...

Re: Loading Ready Sealed League
Game one was an example of what happens with my deck if I'm drawing the right creatures at the right time, but don't quite have the mana to back it up early on. Had I been able to drop a couple more creatures a turn or two earlier, who knows, it might have gone another way. As it was, even Desolator...

Randus2003 2-1 Atifexe
Three great games. At some point, every single one of them seemed to be going my way, at least from my perspective, yet I could only get there in one. At least I went out on my own terms - chumping with Salvage Drone and choosing to draw on an empty library.

Conspiracies (the card type) are not. Cards from Conspiracy (the set) are. Basically, everything that's not silver bordered or explicitly on the ban list is allowed.

An individual who wishes to remain anonymous volunteered to sponsor me for this round, so here's what I opened if the slot is still open! http://i.imgur.com/csMgtCH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3fPWZXQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yLMH4Wh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9L1y8rG.jpg I opened all six BFZ packs at once, an...

Re: Loading Ready Sealed League
It's a bit of a long shot, and would anyone be up for sponsoring my entry for this round of the league? All the cards I open will, of course, belong to you and be returned upon the end of the round. Either way, I hope everyone has fun! (And if I may make a request, perhaps people could post their fa...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I had a big post that started out by extolling the virtues of Cohort in the black/white life drain deck, but what it evolved into was simply an evaluation of how I felt the Cohort cards all contribute to breaking up board stalls. At first glance, I didn't really care for the mechanic, but looking at...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Exactly. "Dies" is short form for "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield", and instead of going to the graveyard, the creature is exiled and the trigger never occurs.

Re: Design a Card
It honestly might be undercosted. It's an asymmetrical damage effect that rewards you for playing acceleration in colors that love big creatures and X-costed burn spells. Even symmetrical effects like Mana Barbs start at CMC 4. That's the lowest I'd cost it at, personally. Silly little side interact...

Re: Desert Bus 9 Discussion
This time last month I was preparing for my first volunteer shift. As much as I'd like to go and do that again, I'm about a DB9 run away from being finished with this job that has been wearing me down for nearly a year. I'm looking more to the future (including DBX, which I would love to have a Drag...

Re: Design a Card
For reference, Obliterate destroys all creatures, artifacts, and lands, and costs 6RR. This theoretical "Destroy all permanents" spell also hits Enchantments and Planeswalkers, the latter of which wasn't even a card type at the time Obliterate was printed (Invasion). I feel that 6BRG might...

You're right, I hadn't considered that. I've edited it to now be one counter per creature.

Enchantment
(X), put a -1/-1 counter on each of X creatures you control: Put an X/X black Zombie Horror creature token onto the battlefield under your control. X cannot be 0.
Thoughts?

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Abilities are not spells. Anything that you cast (i.e. Cards cast from your hand) is a spell. Permanents cease being spells once in play. Someone with more rules knowledge than me will have to clarify whether abilities that trigger on being cast get around protection from spells. I want to say they ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Point of order: Activating Skyshroud's second ability won't trigger Heartbeat of Spring, as Heartbeat requires you to tap to gain the extra mana.
That said, it does go infinite with Caged Sun selecting White or Red instead of Heartbeat of Spring, but only as long as you control it.

I'm contributing when I can, and it looks like my damage output is about 1/1000th what you two can hit them with.

Re: Heroes Unlimited Play By Post?
If by "A few hours" you mean 159 in a row, then yeah, it was just a few hours. =P
I overestimated how much I could do outside of Desert Bus during the run, so I estimate another 2 days or so before the next post goes up.

Re: Heroes Unlimited Play By Post?
First streamlining proposal: Combat is, obviously, a bit of a slog using the current system. One person's turn can take up to a week to complete, if everyone involved is posting slowly and the action requires several dependent steps (such as rolling damage after getting a confirmation that they hit)...

How would you cost this?
Sorcery
Each player may search his or her library for a legendary creature card and put it onto the battlefield. Then each player who searched his or her library this way shuffles it.
