Re: For the lols
But the whole point of microwaves is that they work fast! Why on earth would I want to make one work slower? You're just not making any sense here. that's like going to MacDonalds because you want to have something to eat quickly, then complaining about how bad it is. Sometime you have to compromis...

Re: For the lols
do people not know how to use a microwave?
You can adjust the power so that it cooks more slowly, meaning that things heat more evenly.

Re: Books you're reading now
I got bored of Pride and Prejudice when my paper-back copy of Memory of the Light arrived. I'm reading that now, and so far it hasn't disappointed!

Re: Sherlock Lives
I thought the Empty Hersh was by far the worse Sherlock Episode to date. It was totally incoherent. As has been mentioned, the whole episode seemed to be about the fact that Sherlock was back, without actually focusing on any real plot. The whole bomb thing was underplayed and the resolution was tot...

Re: Books you're reading now
just started reading pride and prejudice. 40 pages in and literally nothing has happened. I have found no reason to care about any of the characters or their inane gossip. Can anyone who's read it tell me if it actually gets interesting at any point?

Re: Doctor Who
I do think moffatt is at his best when he has a strong moderating influence, like RTD when he was head of Dr Who or Gatiss, with Sherlock. He has some great ideas, but needs to have someone to temper some of his tendency to overwrite. I think he has grown a little too big in the world of Doctor Who....

Re: Doctor Who
Not sure I entirely agree with that. I found a lot of the tennant-era xmas episodes that were purely x-mas episodes to be a bit rubbish. The plots were usually very contrived and a bit ridiculous. I think it's pretty hard to write a good christmas Dr Who story, although I like the Smith-era ones a l...

Re: Doctor Who
my thought... River is the pope... they had a lot of similar personality traits and the line. "Flying the tardis is easy, flying the doctor...I have never gotten a handle on that" That actually occurred to me while watching the episode. That would have been much better writing, to use a l...

Re: Doctor Who
The episode actually makes a lot more sense second time around (something I find with quite a few Dr Who episodes, especially those written by Moffatt)
Still not his best work, but better than my first impressions.

Re: Doctor Who
also, how does the crack exist? The doctor reset the universe, so the exploding Tardis never happened so the crack couldn't have existed, so is it just a convenient plot device? Maybe I missed an important bit of explanation because the doctor was jumping about and there were explosions. Re Sally Sp...

Re: Doctor Who
I really wish Moffatt would just calm down with his storytelling. This episode was so helter-skelter and rushed that it turned a really interesting storyline into a bit of a mess. So little time was spent on anything that is became almost impossible to follow and lost any coherence. It doesn't help ...

Re: Doctor Who
David Tennant's departure was truly amazing, and that two-parter was unmatched in quality until Series 7(Which, in my opinion, was the click moment when Moffat suddenly figured out how to write truly great Doctor Who). i was a bit underwhelmed with that episode. As i was with S4 finale, which i jus...

Re: The Sex Thread 2: Because Two Hands Are Better Than One
Im more confused by you visiting your GF's family for sex :) well, you know, very open family... We're uni students, so we live together during term time and with our respective families during holidays. It is currently the Christmas holidays, so one of us has to visit the other's family to see the...

Re: The Sex Thread 2: Because Two Hands Are Better Than One
tomorrow I am going to my GFs to spend some time with her and her family in the run up to Christmas, which means SEX :) and lots of it. Christmasy sex with silly hats and baubles (ok, probably no silly hats and certainly no baubles, I mean, how would that even work) Actually, here's a question. What...

Re: The Sex Thread 2: Because Two Hands Are Better Than One
My GF doesn't like porn and doesn't think I should watch it, so I dont. Masturbation she's happy with (we live together at uni, but not all the time during our holidays, so we have some relatively extended periods away from each other), but she's not comfortable with the idea that I would fantasise ...

Re: The Big Relationship Thread
I'd argue that there is also a more general reluctance to confront people. And that's not a gendered thing, men very often have difficulty confronting people about their feelings, not for fear of their reactions but because the confrontation itself can be awkward and uncomfortable, or at least they ...

I find the number of people whose only response is essentially 'well, I have a PC, so that clearly makes me the most important person ever and you should all know that I play games on my PC so ha. Peasant' very strange.
