How loosely can we define "invention" here? Can I start genetically engineering stuff?

I also did not recieve a character sheet, not am I 100% certain what sorts of inventions I can make.

It has come to my attention that I might not be getting emails for all the PMs I am being sent, as the only email I got was telling me it was my turn to talk, but I didn't receive a link for the game.
