Re: Crapshots - Volume 3
This makes me wonder, what's the most valuable common in the history of magic? What would him "striking gold" actually look like?

Re: TTC 93 - Origins Preview
For Demonic Pact, from a play perspective I wonder how you're supposed to indicate which modes have already been used. Typically in MTG you're not supposed to just have to memorize information.

Re: Fight the Future 08 - A Boy And His Dog
@Clypheous Unless it has a more scientific style, there are a few key differences. First, zombies are often a pseudo-fantasy style of story, similar to the mystical element of Star Wars. (Yes, we're pretending Midichlorians never happened.) Zombies are now a part of public domain, where you can get...

Re: Fight the Future 08 - A Boy And His Dog
Ah, so no in plot explanation. *Nod* That seems to fit with the rest of the plot... Asking why the men were infertile is akin to asking how the zombies in "The Walking Dead" or similar type of situation work. If anyone were to start trying to give an explanation, it would just make it sou...

Re: Fight the Future 08 - A Boy And His Dog
Dan, having just listened to the latest episode, I must say I'm not entirely satisfied with your 'How would I do?' I could have sworn you were lead out by 'furriosa' (or 'furryosa' depending on the local spelling), who was one of the very few female telepathic dogs... As an aside, was there an expl...

Re: TTC 93 - Origins Preview
I agree, the Managorger Hydra is going to be one of those cards than drawn early and played on curve will be amazing and certainly have to be targeted early with removal. If you draw it on turn 7 though? It's probably pretty bad, but at least has some upside during a complete board stall, something ...

Re: LRRcast - Kathleen Trivia (June 2015)
You should put a warning at the beginning of episodes of this that listening to it is going to be a little less useful than normal. I almost always listen to these in the car now as opposed to at my desk, so the whole flag part was pretty confusing, although I did know the flags pretty well. As alwa...

I've heard the "he's not really the hero" theory a number of times now, and I don't think it holds up. Even if he wasn't distinguished by being the most attractive, dynamic, freedom-loving, ideologically pure member of the cast, there's this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Pet...

Re: Fight the Future 04 - The Giver
I had to read The Giver in middle school and there was one thing about the job assignments that I've never gotten over. Some of the girls are assigned to be breeders, and they give birth to 3 children in 3 years, then switch to manual labor because mothers are obviously good for nothing else. Assum...

Re: Fight the Future 04 - The Giver
I remember the book having some significantly different parts and explanations than how Dan and Paul described the movie. I'll admit, I've not seen the movie at this point because the Giver book drove me a little nuts. I remember that in the book, and this is from having read it around 20 years ago,...

Re: Fight the Future 03 - Devil On My Back
I feel you Clypheous when it comes to being annoyed by authors ignoring human nature. That's the only plausibility that really bugs me now, not scientific implausibility. Divergent is a particular offender. I think Devil on my Back did a better job of explaining the compliance than most, since it r...

Re: Fight the Future 03 - Devil On My Back
The technology in science fiction books doesn't typically age well, but the concepts here are pretty solid. I've yet to actually have any of these science fiction books or movies really have a world that makes a lot of sense, this one is slightly less non-sensical than most. I find that most of thes...

I too am happy that you're leaving the Escapist at this point, but I will miss Unskippable. However, given how many other awesome things you're doing these days, I imagine there will be something to fill that gap here real soon.

While I agree that a dingy set can be funny, given all the things that have happened in and around that chair, I'm pretty sure that having new, clean chairs is better. Ikea isn't that bad after all...Just avoid the meatballs.

Re: Fate Reforged Prerelease
I took the Abzan clan box, but had to run Jeskai as the only colors that actually had playables were Blue and White. I suppose I could have run the 5 decent cards from the seeded pack, my good White cards and then just filled the rest up with garbage, but that would have been something like 6-8 pret...

Re: TTC - Fate Reforged Prerelease Report
My prerelease was fun, but I wasn't that crazy about my deck, my clan choice was Abzan, but I had to run Jeskai, because other than the promo cards, I had only a handful of playables in Green or Black. I might have been able to push myself into it, and maybe I should, but playing terrible cards just...

Re: Exclusive Fate Reforged Spoiler Card
That would be a really interesting idea, have you get to decide if you open Khans or Dragons for the two non-Fate sets, but you're going to have a heck of a time trying to figure out the strategy when you don't even know what set you're going to be passed. Can anyone remember a time when a card refe...

Why can't there ever be an obsessively neat zombie killer who uses his super-speed to clean up all the blood, polish the marble, stack up all the bodies in organized rows by, say, height or something. Why must it always be this?

I sometimes forget that you can shoot things totally out of sequence. How often do you shoot things out of order to make it easier to do shots with injuries or makeup or whatever?
I guess it's a moot point now, you probably won't do a lot of makeup for the podcasts or Live.

The whole thing was hilarious though, I also loved Kathleen's...
