Re: Feminism general thread
Could you please give me a concise reason why you feel feminism > egalitarianism? Because egalitarianism necessarily includes feminism. It is impossible to be egalitarian without being feminist, just as it is impossible to be egalitarian without being anti-racist. If you claim to be an egalitarian ...

You'll have to give me a bit. I'm on my phone, which makes research difficult. I can tell you there was a big debacle over such a men's support centre at SFU a couple years back. -m I'm good at research... A quick dig around on google and here's what the SFU’s Women’s Center actually said about it ...

Re: Feminism general thread
If parts of the the MRA movement had started by fund raising for abuse centres and programs to make it more acceptable to report domestic violence no matter the gender of the perpetrator and victim; there might have been respect. Instead, they lobbied for the removal of protections for women, again...

Re: Feminism general thread
There's also a matter of how this is framed... Spousal abuse happens to men too, and because of patriarchal views that men are dominant and not abused, they do not receive enough care. So the way you should be framing your approach to that is "So what can we do to fix this and get male abuse vi...

Re: NEW VIDEO - Female Characters
Scientific fact: Women are, on average, physically weaker in upper-body strength than men. Issues to consider: There is significant overlap between the two, and the averages aren't that much different. Being physically weaker is not some sort of "handicap" especially considering that wome...

Re: Female Characters
The facts are than women know women best. Even in the video it is a room of three men trying to figure out what a woman is, perhaps this was one of the points LRR was trying to make? We need to be more supportive of women who want to get into the video game industry and right now there is a general...

Re: Female Characters
I'm not convinced this is the best course of action either. It was my wife who pointed out to me that adding a female protagonist instead of a male only to be a female protagonist is little more than affirmative action, which isn't necessarily the best thing. What she told me is: I would rather pla...

Re: Female Characters
'Steve' is one such example. Every instance of a white male protagonist can be explained away in the context of "this was necessary for the story we wanted to tell". The problem is that the industry as a whole doesn't seem interested in telling many other stories. -m I wrestled with this ...

My fiancee brought up a very good question about this. If you Ensoul an artifact on the turn it comes into play, does it have summoning sickness? From the Judge rulings, "A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature is subject to the "summoning sickness" rule: It can only attac...

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Br5IS7VIYAEd1zP.jpg This reminds me of my university, Oxford Brookes, that used to be regularly voted the worst collection of buildings in the United Kingdom. It was also a "Centre of excellence in Architecture", possibly because of having so many near to hand ...

'Overwhelming majority' doesn't come into it- they were all men. Not only did women not fight, they would almost certainly have not been physically able to- armour was heavy stuff and only those who had spent their entire lives training (noblemen) were able to wear it and be able to fight effective...

Have you changed the lighting arrangement because it seems like you're getting greenish tones sneaking in. Might need an soft amber gel on the key to compensate for reflection off the greenscreen? (Wow, it's been a looooong time since I applied my GCSE in stage lighting tech.)

Here's a reason why we need #yesallwomen There's a video going around produced by MRA group "Menkind" purporting to show that a Women can attack a Man in the street and get away with it. It is of course entirely staged to the level a "reality TV competition" producer would be ash...

Okay, going to hope this puts an end to the "This is the same as Racism" argument. When a black man says he is afraid of the cops, it's not because he is unfairly prejudiced towards police officers, it's because he's probably regularly been stop-and-searched, or had his car pulled over and...
