Re: NEW VIDEO - Antiquing
His customers react exactly the way I do to antiques. Why would anyone want to spend money on someone else's old stuff? If it was in the family and was a memento or something, old stuff is fine, but otherwise? I guess I just don't really get it. The desperation though might have been a little too c...

Try getting those plastic boxes that card stores use to ship lots of cards. Also use padded/bubble-wrap mailers. Other than that, just follow the directions they give you (include the order number and have the cards in order, yadda yadda).

Re: TTC - Chat with Marshall Sutcliffe at GP Portland
Hi, I really enjoyed this podcast and I'd love to get future casts into my feed. I use an iPhone app called Overcast to manage my podcast subscriptions, and I can't seem to find TTC via the app's search feature. Is there a url for an rss feed that I can use in order to get the TTC podcasts? Try sea...

Re: Friday Nights - Politics
I know this is thread necromancy, but can someone explains to me what happens at 7:12? Jer casts something and everyone gasps, but do we know what he cast and why Kathleen's essence scatter wasn't useful? He cast Karn Liberated , which is not a creature (which Essence Scatter counters) but a powerf...

Re: So that just happened (funny MTG stories)
That reminds me of the most recent LR episode on team limited, where Brian Wong was describing a team draft. A player was about to go for a huge Sphinx's Revelation, but didn't want to walk into a Force Spike (U for an instant, counter spell unless they pay 1 colorless). He asked his teammates if th...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I've been trying to work out where I fit into WotC's player profile, because it doesn't sound like I fit anywhere. If anything, I'd say I'm Johnny-Lite, because I like the cards that do cool things (perhaps unexpectedly), but I don't necessarily care about combos. Heck, I don't necessarily care abo...

Hive Mind is a six-mana enchantment; they do it with Amulet of Vigor, Ravnica karoo lands, Summer Bloom/Azusa, Lost but Seeking, and Primeval Titan.

No, because when you're casting the spell, it's not a spell on the stack and so can't be targeted.

Courser does see play in Jund decks. I'd expect it to go up in value over time, more than Prophet, honestly.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
That's correct. You can also get around that with sacrifice effects or things that don't say "target creature," like Council's Judgment from Conspiracy, which is a Will of the Council card that exiles a permanent of your choice (not targeted).

Do counters with the same name interact with things that aren't the same cards that put them on there? Both Triad of the Fates and Oblivion Stone use "Fate Counters" but they do different things with them. If something has an Oblivion Stone Fate Counter on it, can you do stuff to it with ...

Maybe give it "Activate this ability only as a sorcery"? That would help with the timing of handing it off.

Re: Making sunbond a thing.
I don't think the Harvestguard Alseids are what you want in the deck, as they're fairly expensive without a huge payoff; Murder Investigation feels a bit durdle-y. I'd run four Gods Willing and/or Brave the Elements and four Hopeful Eidolons instead.

Re: Modern Ensoul Artifact Infect
I would actually go in the opposite direction and try to go cheaper, mainly because of the speed of the format. If you're waiting until turn five to enchant your infect creature, the combo decks will have already won and the control decks will have adequate time to draw into Lightning Bolts or Path ...

Re: looking for cheap THS Block or Standard deck for MGO
I play an Izzet control deck in Standard (both paper and online), which is pretty cheap to build. 4x Young Pyromancer 4x Turn // Burn 3x Magma Jet 2x Lightning Strike 2x Mizzium Mortars 2x Fated Conflagration 4x Counterflux 3x Essence Scatter 4x Izzet Charm 4x Steam Augury 1x Opportunity 1x Aetherli...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
The only things I feel I object to for budget reasons are the Vendilion Cliques and fetch lands. I guess I'll just put in more basics and 4x Sulfur Falls in instead of the fetches? Not sure what to replace the Clique with though. I think some builds of UR Delver run Keranos in the board; maybe you ...

Re: Budget Modern - Dimir Blitz
I might consider changing the counterspell suite to include Spell Pierce (it's cheaper and easier to leave up) and changing the removal to have four Dismembers (which should be both cheaper and easier on the mana base). Also, having Inkmoth Nexuses might be useful as an additional infect creature.

The first Hero's Path video.

What about Nightveil Specter? It would fit in with the theme of the deck and be a good early play that provides three early pips for Nykthos.
