Re: LRRcon 2014

You can have a hojillion nerds milling about with booths advertising all the sooper-dooper high-tech gadgetry and video games (oh, and maybe a comic or two). Or you can have a tight community of concentrated awesome nerds playing tabletop games and watching sketch comedy all day long. CHOOSE WISELY.

Paul, I don't know if I respect you or want to strangle you for leading us right into that joke about Harpo NOT betraying the Marx Brothers. That was so perfectly executed.

Re: LRRcon 2014

Just as a friendly reminder: This IS a gathering where a lot of nerdy stuff is going to go down. Thus, if you have a 3DS, it may be in your best interests to bring it along, make sure Streetpass Plaza is fired up and ready, and keep it in your pocket/bag. Because it's stupid and silly fun, that's wh...

Hrm. I'm notoriously bad at pub-style trivia. Even moreso when the topic is "all things geeky", which generally translates out to "those specific geeky things about which I don't happen to be geeky". Blast!

I know I'll have my passport with me!

There! Plane tickets, hotel reservation, and LRRCon ticket all purchased! I'm going to Seattle! I'm going there and not a single person here* will have any clue who I am! That's how crazy this is! I just can't believe how crappy a choice of flights I had. Apparently, you don't want to go to Seattle ...

Re: LRRcon 2014

What I've generally found with group rate rooms is that the rate might not be the absolute minimum you can find anywhere for the same room, but, in addition to being in the same block as everyone else in the group, it winds up being beneficial to the people putting on the event (LRR in this case) in...

After seeing the news graphic after everyone was introduced by how much they hate spring, I was expecting to see Graham having edited the video. After all, we know how he feels about spring (but not summer).

@Fayili, just a thought, but have you looked into taking the bus instead of flying? Not sure how far south you are, but bussing would probably be way cheaper. I don't really want to bus across pretty much the entirety of California, Oregon, and Washington. :P Could be worse. You could be starting f...

If you come up early, have access to a car, and want to go exploring, there's a fair amount of nerd-friendly fun down by the Commons Mall (formerly SeaTac Mall, mentioned in a Sir Mix-a-Lot song my brother used to listen to a lot.) There's West Coast Sports Cards and Comics (they sell Magic), Fanta...

CaptainSpam, you're correct that it's the Doubletree by SEATAC and not the one downtown. Hope you can make it, it should be fun (my socially awkward penguin-ness aside). Man, that's odd. Maybe I'm not reading the map right, or maybe I'm just not too familiar with the locations of SEATAC's exit door...

Re: The House of Stark

I understand Ada's campaign to be much shorter. It's more of a bonus. Yeah, I would assume a campaign consisting entirely of "set up everything for the player before anything bad gets there, then fire a grappling hook in some vague upward direction" would be much shorter than "slog t...

Graham was having a few streaming issues last night. I don't think the framerate problem ever got fixed, for instance, or at least it never did on my end.

The only thing that expressly annoyed me about Dark was just how damn stupid absolutely EVERYTHING that came out of Eric's mouth was. Yes the gameplay was stupid and the storyline out to lunch, but the same can be said for both Cursed Crusade and Dante's Inferno, both of which I enjoyed watching th...

On the latest stream (Jan 28), Paul and Graham talking about Epic reminded me of the old days of DOS shareware games. Back when Apogee and Epic roamed the wild, untamed BBSes of yore and we passed around games on stacks of 3-1/2" floppies. And how Epic had a decent amount of crazy back in the &...

I dunno. Assuming the idea was "biologically engineer super-soldiers", making a 200-foot-or-so monstrosity that can store biomass in some manner of pocket dimension inside itself, adapt its physiology to new threats quickly, alter its size almost freely, and take several small armories' wo...

I just wanted to note that in the email we backers got about this, while the URL shown on the link goes to the right video, the actual link still goes to The Bitcoin Conspiracy. Same with the link to the forum post, in that it goes to TBC's discussion thread.
