The glasses really look like the suit you!
I've gone through a few pairs of new frames, and it always disappoints me that I can never seem to find the same style as my last pair. So nice job on managing to keep your first pair for so long.

Re: LoadingReadyLIVE [the show, not the channel]
The PowerPoint could have being tightened up a bit into shorter presentations, but I really liked how it went.

Re: Ghostbusters 2016
As I always said, why not create new heroes and not hand me-downs? Because it's almost impossible to tell what will become a cultural phenomenon and what will garner a lot of praise then putter out after a few months. Latching on to an existing franchise majorly boosts the profile of new heroes. Re...

Re: Pokemon GO!
So I tried it out today since it seems to be the "in" thing. Turns out my desk at work is about 3 feet from a pokestop, which appears to be handy. Today was the most people I've seen in the square in front of city hall outside of New Year's or the annual car show, so that's a thing. Two po...

Re: Advice Thread
At least in theory, a USB2 Wifi adapter should be able to keep up with a WiFi N signal (USB2 = 480Mbit/s, 802.11n = 450Mbit/s). In practice, USB probably won't quite keep up, but unless you have a really high-speed internet connection, it shouldn't matter much anyways. On the other hand, if you have...

Re: Advice Thread
If you run proper drops through the house, you'd be helping the property! But yeah, realistically your options are either a Powerline adapter, which you already have (and I have no experience with), or getting a new wifi card/adapter for your desktop (though I'm sure you weren't looking for a "...

Re: Ghostbusters 2016
Also, remakes and adaptions go back to the beginning of Hollywood, and include many classic movies, such as The Maltese Falcon . Given how many hands are involved in a movie production, the "source material" has a rather small impact on the quality of the movie...though a familiar name doe...

Re: So... About that Significant World Event that Happened..
My understanding of "constitutional convention" was that the unwritten rules specifically don't have the force of law, just immense political pressure to apply. For example, the Governor General only acting "on the advice" of the Prime Minister - almost unthinkable for the GG to ...

Re: So... About that Significant World Event that Happened..
My understanding of the Scotland Acts and The Sewel Convention is that Westminster retains absolute sovereignty over Parliamentary matters in the UK, including the (technical) ability to override the devolved legislatures. Notably, Section 28 (Acts of the Scottish Parliament) of the Scotland Act 199...

Re: So... About that Significant World Event that Happened..
While some of have brought up the possibility of the devolved legislatures blocking the exit, from what I've read, that's not possible. The supposed means by which the devolved legislatures could block Brexit is that Westminster is not supposed to legislate in devolved matters, or change the power/s...

As for this last episode: Oh fuck yes. So many good bits that could have been episode-enders on their own (though the one they went with was probably the most satisfying, just from how long we've being waiting for them to get on with it.

For the entire second half of the episode I wanted to scream at the TV "Give Wun-Wun a f***ing 2 meter piece of steel as cleaver/swors or at least a f***ing tree trunk"... He could have moved down the entire phalanx that surrounded them in less than a minute had he had any kind of appropr...

Re: The depressing depression thread
Rather high - the current bets are that when David Cameron officially resigns in October, he will be replaced by a pro-leave member of the Conservative party (likely Boris Johnson) who will invoke Article 50. While most of the current MPs are pro-EU, few would want to go against a public referendum ...

Re: So... About that Significant World Event that Happened..
Which... yeah. It sucks. It's hard on Britons, and I'm really sorry about it. But from my perspective, well, it does put to lie the Quebec sovereigntist myth that an independence vote would result in nothing more than a renegotiation of terms with the rest of Canada, rather than a break. They've al...

Re: So... About that Significant World Event that Happened..
Most likely scenario long term: UK works out a deal with the EU similar to Norway and Switzerland where they end up paying into the EU and abiding by most of the EU rules in order to gain access to the common market - so exactly the same situation they already had, but with a few extra exemptions an...

Re: Game of Thrones (Contains spoilers)
Ramsey's a terrible tactician, he's just ruthless and horrifying, and managed to provoke Jon and his forces into a charge before losing the support of his own allies (see how Stannis lost a good chunk of his army). For the following battle, it's tough to tell how much is terrible tac...

Re: This thread is so gay
Its simply the opposite of trans, and is a useful word to have around in gender/sex related discussions.
It can be used in an insulting or hurtful way, sure, but so can many words - for example, see pretty much any word relating to a minority group.

They see him as an outsider who is unfamiliar with the situation he's trying to control - which isn't necessarily an unfair assessment. Since he took command and tried to play is Westerosi game, and now they're under attack, their gut reaction is to tell him off. On top of that, since h...
