Re: LRRcast - Star Wars

I had some problems with Finn's character and motivations. In the beginning we see him staggered by the horrors of war, the sight of his friends dying around him, and he can't bring himself to pull the trigger to kill others. *15 minutes later* "Hey Poe! Did you see how I killed those storm tr...

Re: LRRcast - Star Wars

It seems to work through youtube but not the lrr site. I had two MAJOR problems with TFA, but unlike Abrams Trek it wasn't enough to ruin the movie for me. One was the fact that we apparently can see the destruction of the Republic capital tens of thousands of light years away. I understand for the ...

Re: AFK

Alas, as one of those who thinks the other half dozen MTG-related things you do is sufficient already, I was disappointed to see another AFK Magic stream. Sorry, but it was immediately shut down and hoping for something else next time. I know it is a core money earner for you guys and don't begrudge...

Re: Fight the Future 22 - Knights Of Sidonia

Loved your take on this! I wanted SO bad to like this show, and loved the universe and everything about it, but like the works of Margret Atwood I just couldn't get past the (in my own opinion) sloppy and unengaging storyline to experience the wonderful universes underneath. There is so much potenti...

Thank you, Cam, for bringing up Julia Kent. After the podcast, I listened to much of it and very much enjoyed it. Seems a great background music for writing(in the best possible meaning of that) that I've found in a long time.

Re: TTC 113 - Oath of the Gatewatch Preview

Not sure if it is a crazy audio thing, but I find it shocking that once again I'm having issues hearing Cameron relative to the other two (especially James). This is quite a feat considering he has the microphone physically strapped to his head. Alex was also a bit low.

Speaking of, while I know he was less than impressed with Civ:BE, I'd like to see him take a crack at the Rising Tide expansion. I've heard good things about it, but haven't had the time to play it yet myself (damn you real life!).

Re: Fight the Future 17 - Enders Game

Loved you guys discussing this! Like The Martini I do loathe Orson Scott Card as a human being, but I did enjoy his books. I was even onboard with the movie until the VERY ham-handed way they ended it while on the alien planet (basically everything after he left battle school was progressively worse...

Arguably the first Team Needs a Haircut could have been Huntington's. Progressive neurological diseases have a lot of very similar symptoms.

Also Serbia wasn't a country at that time.

Re: AFK

It all depends on the game, but I personally advise against it as it seems completely unnecessary and very contrived to me. After all, they would be setting up the game board before they start their stream, and any rules explanations would either be done before the stream or be essential during the ...

Re: AFK

Unpopular opinion: For those of us who aren't huge fans of the game, maybe no MTG for a few weeks to try out other things? :P A few suggestions: 1) Eldritch Horror - Like Arkham Horror, but way better and way shorter. Still has a few of the problems, but between the two I'd play EH instead of AH. 2)...

Re: Canadian Federal Election 2015

I was hoping for a Minority to test the waters, but we'll see how it goes. I'm a dyed in the wool Liberal, but I'm not a huge fan of Trudeau. I would have liked him to show his fortitude before given the keys to the country via a majority, but he has enough good people around him to make up for any ...

I find Kalthleen's assertions of whimsy in regards to that hat to be offensive. Among the Swedes, such hats are only worn for the most somber of ceremonies, such as funerals or in mourning of the last can of surströmming being thrown out or to lynch those who give insufficient credence to the concep...

Re: LRRcast - Where we thought we'd be

Ten years ago I figured I'd be married to a different person than I will be in a few months and in a much more lucrative career. Thankfully I didn't marry that one person, and overall I'm probably doing as good as I realistically could with my certifications in the present market. Probably ended up ...

Re: LRRcast - Spoilers Part 2

To the Far Cry 4 "Alternate Ending": As a writer of Tabletop RPG adventures, the "well, they just don't get involved" ending is something that is really common, especially in the Living Arcanis RPG system, and it is one I both love and hate. I love the fact that the writers plan ...

I think those words are a bit harsh, though I do agree it was one of the weaker topics you guys have done lately. I could have seen it as part of a podcast, but I lost interest about halfway through.
