Re: LRR Mobile Edition

For some reason on my laptop it keeps randomly sending me to the mobile version of this site instead of the desktop version. I'd only ever want desktop from a laptop...not sure if it's possible for websites to determine a hard cut difference between laptop and phone. :\

Re: The depressing depression thread

Any chance that I can ever afford mental healthcare is likely to evaporate. I'm still afraid to make my sexual preferences public, living in an area where "faggot" is still common parlance and the Orlando shooting was frequently a punchline. I want to fight, but I don't know how, or even ...

As fellow leathercrafter I must say that's a pretty sweet looking "Gastly" diary cover! I love the pun title too.

Re: Alex's Stream Shelter? Safe Spaces? Echo Chambers? DISCU

Which demographic is it saying things might not happen and it's an issue to worry about things before they've been suggested or tabled? There is a good point there as in constantly asking what if is an unhealthy thing to do...but thing is to marginalized demographics they are repeatedly targeted on ...

Re: Alex's Stream Shelter? Safe Spaces? Echo Chambers? DISCU

Outside of acknowledging there's another thread for this conversation which may have been somewhat derailed I feel people who claim "tough love" working the vast majority should take a look at how many people choose to end their own lives from lack of a milder approach being available to t...

Re: The voxlunch stream shelter thread

My two cents about respect: Respect has a lot of different meanings depending on who's giving it and receiving it. To me deserving respect means the absence of behavior which makes you no longer deserve it. Someone who jumps on stream for the first time without anyone knowing them should be treated ...

Re: The voxlunch stream shelter thread

Sincere question: is covering oneself in a shell, repeatedly, a good idea? You're going to have to come out at some point and just deal with it like adults, falling apart isn't going to help. Solidarity found in storm shelter streams does help people feel stronger. Without it everyone would face th...

Re: The depressing depression thread

Dutch guy, I feel that way sometimes when I'm ill or just haven't been exercising as much as I should...but brain chemistry being slightly off can do it to the fittest of the fit too...or something like low iron making you feel weak all the time for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

Re: The depressing depression thread

I was hugged today at work by a customer's kid because I found a game they wanted. I HATE HUGS! That is adorable. :D A bit of a vent, as a few weeks passes since I stopped taking antidepressants. I don't think I am falling again, but my life feels very grey these days. I feel ugly and socially inca...

Canadian Electoral Reform Survey - Please Pass it On!

Here's the Canadian Electoral reform survey. If you are Canadian please tell them how much better Single-Transferable vote system is for making every vote count as well as ensure most proportional seating in Parliament. Please also pass it on! https://survey-sondage-hoc.parl.gc.ca/TakeSurveyPage.asp...

Re: The depressing depression thread

Re family disappointment: Many families have at least one loud person who can't be pleased and is very vocal about it while the others don't defend even if they don't agree. This can make it hard to see everyone's point of view accurately especially if you're not inclined to speak with each of them ...

Re: Limits on freedom of speech

Harassment should always be punishable by law and sad when it comes down to having to argue what is and what isn't in court when they take into account what a person was wearing or their personal background as if that makes them somehow deserve to be targets.

Re: The depressing depression thread

My dog died on Thursday. I had him for half of my life. He was so beautiful and clever and perfect. I wasn't done loving him. Now I have all this leftover love fermenting inside me until it turns to sadness and I break down. There's just too much love. I don't know what to do with myself. Everythin...

betsytheripper, there might be a law stating that if you get a pet after moving in that it can't be grounds for eviction which do exist in some places...but yeah if they'd even try to toss someone out over needing a support animal you probably wouldn't want to live in that building with that landlor...

Re: The depressing depression thread

Yesterday in DBCommunity chat people were told about a member's cat having been declawed and they gave a reaction in jumping to conclusions about how it got that way. Having volunteered at an animal shelter I've seen cats abandoned after having been declawed, put in the shelter and need new owners. ...

RytelCSF, I'd say even the lurkers are a part of this community even though it's one sided until they speak. They still get benefit from seeing and hearing all the positive things that are communicated. <3 Welcome!
