Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz

Funny, I didn't get 7 when I heard it at first, but now, after I've submitted, I finally got it. My mind just wasn't in the right place for it, I guess. I got 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 I am completely sure on all of them, as they're either songs that strike me just well known in general, or songs I pe...

Re: LRRCraft Minecraft Server - PvP

I feel like CTF and Castle Assault appeal to me the most, and I feel the games also become more intense at 4+ players per team, so hopefully we can get some bigger games going. I also really like the idea of the Battleships map, but I feel like some of the anti-grief measures work against the map. I...

Re: Piercings

I have earlobes, considering getting some ear cartilage piercings as well, but I also really hate needles, so I'm not sure I'll ever get them.

Reason for getting them; I enjoy having stuff dangle from my ears :P

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz

Hmm... I know I got 7 of these, and I feel like I could get 2-3 more of them if I really do some digging, because I'm pretty confident on the bands.

Re: Books you're reading now

Understandable, but if you like DFW's writing style, I can't imagine not liking it. It's just a lot more of it. Granted, it's also pretty heavy on absurd humor, and it's a bit labyrinthine in story structure, but I feel like that's sort of true of all of DFW's works. Constantly referring to footnote...

Re: Books you're reading now

David Foster Wallace is definitely one of my favorite writers. Infinite Jest is certainly in my Top 3 for favorite books of all time, and basically everything of his I've read is absolutely top-notch. His death was beyond tragic, although he was very open about his struggle with depression. Infinite...

Re: Books you're reading now

I love Le Guin, The Left Hand of Darkness is easily one of my favorites, been trying to track down a copy of The Dispossessed for a while now, might have to just order it online. Currently reading A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick, it's a really fantastic novel, very different from PKD's other work...

Absolutely, critique is totally welcomed and appreciated :D I seem to have re-written this first page of my first chapter countless times, going back and revising my first draft. I think I'm finally nearing a page I'm happy with. In the first paragraph, "whom reeked" should be "who re...

Managed to create the perfect flying machine for the balloon popper, and after that mission, it was pretty easy because of it. Killing all the knights was fairly straight forward; make a death machine. My first thought for killing the flock was pistons with flame throwers, but after running out of f...

Re: Let's Chat About Gender and How Biological Sex Isn't Rea

What exactly do you feel you gain by labeling, for instance, a trans woman, as "a biological male" Any thing you're trying to say is already being said by the terms "trans woman" or "assigned male at birth," and it's done so in a matter that's less ambiguous and less of...

Re: Let's Chat About Gender and How Biological Sex Isn't Rea

Outside of medical applications, tell me one time an average person would need to know anybody else's birth sex, rather than their gender? I can't think of one, because it's not relevant.

Re: Let's Chat About Gender and How Biological Sex Isn't Rea

AMAB and AFAB are far batter than biologically male/female. To say "biologically male/female" implies that the person is actually their at-birth designated gender, which is not necessarily true. The fact is we have no real accurate way to biologically determine gender. (To anyone who claim...

Steven Wilson's new album Hand. Cannot. Erase. It's incredibly beautiful music, but it's also incredibly sad. It's inspired by the death of Joyce Vincent , a woman who died in her thirties in her apartment, but even though she had a family, a social life, etc... her body remained undiscovered for th...

Re: LRR Minecraft Server

I don't see why anything would need to be demolished. Sure, plenty of the buildings are purely aesthetic, but it's not like they're preventing anything functional from being built. I like city atmosphere it provides. I'd rather have functional buildings with the city atmosphere than just having a ho...

Just finished Good Omens, by Niel Gaiman + Terry Pratchet. Currently reading Philip K. Dick's Ubik, after which I intend to read either Neuromancer by William Gibson or A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again by David Foster Wallace. Depends on if I'm feeling like I want more sci-fi or not.

Yeah, I keep ship transferring what was originally a 300i. Upgraded to a 325a, and now it's a Cutlass Black. Hopefully I'll be able to slowly chain upgrades into a Constellation.
