To be fair, we're at 24 upper and 35 lower out of 57 countries surveyed in education. Which is funny, because the upper is when it is compared to more education systems that are not part of the OECD.

Right because it was settled

Repeatedly. With different outcomes each time. So it wasn't settled in the slightest, people just gave up and the last person to post won.

Why isn't The Arrostook war ever brought up? Over twice as many Americans were needlessly slaughtered than their Canadian opponents in non-combat.

There wasn't any USA bashing going on. Or rather there was but who cares. In fifty years Canada will be all but indistinguishable from us anyway.

I know that the Canadians burned our Capital down in that war, but they've apologized for it, because they are just so daggum nice all the time...

Yay! Morgan remembered our conversation about the War of 1812! I don't know why that pleases me so much, but it does! :D

while i enjoyed mention of the war of 1812, you all seem to forget that it was little more than a proxy war between France and Britain. so really, we burned the white house down, using Canadians, who were members of the British Empire anyway.

Funny thing is that my history teacher just went over this today.

And by went over, I mean like 15 seconds.

And congratulations, you just received the standard allotment of education time in the US reserved for the War of 1812. It's just not taught here. Most likely for two reasons: 1) We lost. 2) It changed nothing.

Unless you take an AP history course which has defacto nation wide syllabus requirements. But those who take those, probably aren't ignorant of the events being discussed to begin with.

My AP American History teacher laughs in the face of de facto national requirements, laughs.

My AP American History teacher was in his last year before retirement and mostly told us stories about when he was in Vietnam. Except when he would interrupt himself to laugh at us because he would be on the golf course the following year, and we would still be in school.

Quick note for anyone who's wondering (or ever has wondered) QI actually stands for "Quite Interesting" it's a panel game and has a round called "general ignorance" which is where I believe Lyinginbedmon got confused. It's great, btw. You learn a lot and laugh a fair bit, too!

Don't they just, though? I do find enormous negative scores on quiz shows to be inordinately entertaining.

My own; Longshot, Titan, Magstrike, RF20, Mech Tommy Twenty, Hornet, 3x Buzz Bee Double Blast (one being repaired/modified) are the "large" guns. Pistols include Maverick (modified), two NightFinders (one modified), Scout, and Splitfire.

I really liked Lying in this episode. Also, Morgan. I listened to it using my neighbor's wifi whilst locked out my house, and was duly entertained.
