For reference, the Earthf***er is actually called a Thumper. It's used to extract resources from the ground. Unfortunately, it acts sort of like that thing from Dune that calls the sandworms. You have to spend several minutes defending the thing from a horde of oncoming monsters.

I was sorry to hear about Paul and his This-Is-Why-I'm-Paulsy
Get well soon!

I'm a bigger nerd than you. Not by way of intelligence, mind. But because I'm over six feet tall and more than 350 lbs.

Fayili wrote:So, one of my guardians when I was growing up got (when I was in elementary or middle school sometime) what we thought was Bell's Palsy. Later, as it worsened, the diagnosis was changed to Multiple Sclerosis, which is what she has now, and has had (not that I think this will be the same for Paul - she was older, a workaholic, and I'm fairly sure MS is at least in part genetic?). Not having looked up Bell's Palsy since, I was really worried until he mentioned the recovery time. I guess in her case, it was a misdiagnosis, since they hadn't figured out the actual cause. BASICALLY I'm glad to hear that you're more or less alright, if inconvenienced for some time.
Also, with the somewhat laconic look it gives you, you look a bit like Seth Green (or specifically the character Oz from Buffy). So that's a plus!
MS is complicated, but being older and a workaholic doesn't really affect the outcome. It shows up when it shows up, though someone can have symptoms appear due to stress. My mom was first diagnosed when my brother was a baby and she was suddenly blind for a day (so around her late 20s), and she was actually told she was diagnosed when that same brother graduated and two sisters got married and it was a generally stress-filled year (as you might expect, she was not happy with the doctor in question). The kind she had initially came and went, but now it's progressed to a more severe kind that sticks around and makes it difficult for her left leg to work. Also, nobody knows what causes it, though the further away from the equator you are the more common it gets. It's been linked to all sorts of potential causes and nobody has a clue. In the case of my own family, my mom is the only one who has it, none of her brothers and sisters do, none of my cousins on that side, none of my brothers and sisters and my grandparents didn't either. But honestly, right now there's probably nothing to worry about, I just know a little bit about MS.
I know someone we know had Bell's Palsy once because it was mentioned a lot around the house. Hopefully it clears up quick! If not, you could always go the Takeshi Kitano route and cast yourself as taciturn mobsters and pirates.

Hugs Paul.
The most famous Canadian to have Bell's Palsy is former prime minister Jean Chrétien.

Thanks for the well wishes and /hugs everyone. It is much appreciated.
I got a few different avatar submission that I really like, so I think I'm going to rotate them every week or so until the Paulsy has cleared up. If you have a avatar you would like to submit, either post a link to it in this thread or email it to me at [email protected].

Get better soon, Paul! My sister got Bell's Palsy and she still uses it as a sympathy card sometimes. At the time she joined (I think it was) a Facebook group called "Monster for a Month"

Agnostic: I was thinking the same thing when I first heard it on the LRRcast.
Paul: So, James goes to PAX, gets a virus. You don't go to PAX. You get a virus. Is there no way to not get a virus?
