Graham & Paul are back, but Beej & Alex are sticking around for this week's extensive askLRR session.
Re: LRRcast 2013-10-12
Beejing John Malkovich? I'd watch that just based on the name.

Apparently a similar incident happened with the US islands nearest to Victoria, though at the time was still a British dominion and clearly a step up in escalation of cordule island disputes since it was so super serious soldiers from both sites took up positions on the island.

During the years of joint military occupation, the small British and American units on San Juan Island had a very amicable mutual social life, visiting one another's camps to celebrate their respective national holidays and holding various athletic competitions. Park rangers tell visitors the biggest threat to peace on the island during these years was "the large amounts of alcohol available."

Even though I don't read comics, the bit at the end about silver age Jesus or the infinite timeline Jesus had me laughing uncontrollably. Also we need Beej's Malkovich set as some bonus video somehow.

Me too. I think I'd like to see Jesus fight alongside the Justice League, though it'd be a very short fight.
I'm seriously going to ask my pastor about Jesus and the vampire to see what his theory is. Then again, we once talked about the passage in Matthew of the crucifixion (where dead saints leave their tombs and walk around Jerusalem) as a possible instance of zombies in the Bible...

The whole island thing may actually be kind of important. a nations territorial waters extend about 200km (I think) from any land it possesses and depending who owns it that is a lot of underwater territory with oil, fishing and sovereignty rights that global warming is making ever more lucrative... Basically, from what I remember, it will be really important several decades from now but right now seems kind of silly; and it is, but it still might matter a lot.

Actually, I believe the territorial waters thing is already settled. The channel that Hans Island (and a few others) is located in is only 24-32km wide, and that is all that separates Canada (specifically Ellesmere Island) from Greenland. So back in the 70's Canada and Denmark basically drew a line down the middle of the strait...right where Hans Island happens to be. As neither country was willing to give up claim to the island there's just a gap in the boundary where it would run through Hans Island, leaving us where we are today.
Personally, I'm in favour of just splitting the island in two, giving both Canada and Denmark a second land border.

Ambiguous phrasing. Canada and Denmark would both go from each only having one land border (with the USA and Germany, respectively), to having two (with each other).

Can you please add a link to "Leon's Grate Adventual," 1 or 2 if it's still online? I tried looking for it and xm works, but whether I'm spelling it wrong or something, I can't find it. Thanks.

Your problem is that it's Eximeorks. Here's the Youtube page. Not sure where the first one is, I didn't see it on there.
