At MAGfest, you didn't seem ore anxious when talking to me than Graham did, so... If you've got social anxiety in large groups, it doesn't show as much as you probably think. :)

What's the worst investment in a game you've ever made? For example, I bought RealMyst for $35 and played it like once.

If you could sharpen DVDs into deadly shurkiens and throw them at people to kill them, who would you throw them at, and what DVDs would you make them out of?

Did Alex go to the Charity Dinner? If not, can we bring him on for Ask an Alex Live Reunion Tour Tour-Thousand-Thir-Tour?

Was there much clubbing going on at Desert Bus 7?

Sorry everyone. Apparently the MASSIVE SNOWSTORM (eg. A light dusting of snow) was so catastrophic that it has knocked the power out at the Moonbase.
I was really having fun, too. I am officially rescheduling the rest of the Q&A stream until Saturday at the same time. (3:00 PST)

For anyone who missed the start.

http://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/b/485217097

The first 16 minutes Paul talks rather openly about how he has struggled with social anxiety and depression.

He then goes into questions. He got halfway through My pseudonym is Ix's questions the stream died just as he was finishing answering the question "What is your guiltiest pleasure?"

So, I spent way too long messing with ridiculous technical problems in order to get the stream up and running on Thursday, only to have it taken down by a Victoria-wide blackout 45 minutes later. One of my favourite songs kept coming to mind last night: The Mary Ellen Carter by Stan Rogers. Not only is it a great song, but I feel like it has relevance to, not only struggling to get the stream going, but to some of the stuff I talked about at the beginning.

Maybe it is because I am still in a Desert Bus frame of mind, but I had an idea that you guys could rewrite the lyrics to the song to be about streaming, Twitch, the LRRcast or LRR in general and to start the continuation of the Q&A stream on Saturday, I will sing it.

Unlike Desert Bus, there is no prize for this so maybe everyone can work together in a shared google doc or each come up with a different verse or something. If there isn't enough interest, that is totally cool, I just thought it might be a fun way to start the stream.

Original Lyrics

and here is a youtube video of it being sung by Stan Rogers:

I also sang it myself at Desert Bus 6:

(1)
He came on last Thursday in a light dusting of snow.
The skipper, he'd been trying to fix the tech, To share his pain.
Too close to Three Ohhh Clock, and he was dealt the mortal blow,
And the 2K13 Ask Paul Live ceased its glow.
'cause just thirty five minutes on in questions paul was awash.
He'd worked like hell to answer, all those IX he did post.
but the power cut out the stream went down, The picnic we did start
and wish on a star that Paul would stream again

(2)
Well, the LRR Crew had an idea loft; raise a nickel For the kids.
They planned three days of bussing, boys, then met a happy end.
When fans did raise the total up, they crew would rest nomore.
Then Teller called the bus then said he had to go.
But bill talked to felicia, about dungeons round the clock,
Till we had raised a quarter million, and then we doubled it up.
Then the Ians went to the gay bar, we danced and then we sang
And made the desert bus stream rise again.

(3)(6)
Stream again, Stream again, The Stream its not been lost
To answer ques-tions.
Those who watch him answer will come back till the end
We'll watch the 2k13 Ask Paul live again.

Full lyrics
(1)
She went down last October in a pouring driving rain.
The skipper, he'd been drinking and the Mate, he felt no pain.
Too close to Three Mile Rock, and she was dealt her mortal blow,
And the Mary Ellen Carter settled low.
There were just us five aboard her when she finally was awash.
We'd worked like hell to save her, all heedless of the cost.
And the groan she gave as she went down, it caused us to proclaim
That the Mary Ellen Carter would rise again.
(2)
Well, the owners wrote her off; not a nickel would they spend.
She gave twenty years of service, boys, then met her sorry end.
But insurance paid the loss to us, they let her rest below.
Then they laughed at us and said we had to go.
But we talked of her all winter, some days around the clock,
For she's worth a quarter million, afloat and at the dock.
And with every jar that hit the bar, we swore we would remain
And make the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.
(3)
Rise again, rise again, that her name not be lost
To the knowledge of men.
Those who loved her best and were with her till the end
Will make the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.
(4)
All spring, now, we've been with her on a barge lent by a friend.
Three dives a day in hard hat suit and twice I've had the bends.
Thank God it's only sixty feet and the currents here are slow
Or I'd never have the strength to go below.
But we've patched her rents, stopped her vents, dogged hatch and
porthole down.
Put cables to her, 'fore and aft and girded her around.
Tomorrow, noon, we hit the air and then take up the strain.
And make the Mary Ellen Carter Rise Again.
(5)
For we couldn't leave her there, you see, to crumble into scale.
She'd saved our lives so many times, living through the gale
And the laughing, drunken rats who left her to a sorry grave
They won't be laughing in another day. . .
And you, to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go
Turn to, and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again.
(6)
Rise again, rise again - though your heart it be broken
And life about to end
No matter what you've lost, be it a home, a love, a friend.
Like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again.

Hosk, I hope you don't mind I edited a few lines for singability

(1)
It went down late last Thursday in a dusting of light snow.
The skipper, he'd been trying to fix the tech, To share his pain.
So many in the chat when it went dark on every screen
And the Ask Paul live stream derped or so it seemed
The viewers they were unsure whether Paul was coming back
They posted gifs and chatted maybe munching on a snack
And together there they waiting for some news about the feed
Hoping Paul would come and pay our questions heed

(3)(6)
Stream again, Stream again, The Stream's not been lost
To the relief of the fans.
Those who watch him answer will come back till the end
We'll watch the 2k13 Ask Paul live again.

I might try a bit more later, but if someone else wants a go...

EDIT: Wait, Hosk did you add a bunch more lines while I wasn't looking?? There's way more there now.

(4)
For years, now, we've been coming here for strength lent by a friend.
Three clicks a day for silly hats the wiki the runners lend a hand.
Thank God for them in all the threads who help when we are low
Or we might lose our strength and go below
They read all our rants, and angry vents, always supporting never putting down.
Put virtual hugs, 'fore and aft and girded us around.
someday, soon, we hit the thread and they take up our strain.
And help the hurting brothers n sisters Rise Again.

(5)
oh we couldn't leave them there at ten and let them fade away.
They've made us laugh so many times, with their silly play
And the laughing, forum brats who wont let Lrr go away
They will be laughing for another day. . .
To you the kickstarter backers who did contribute
We're smiling and laughing thanks to you
Turned to, and put out all your strength of Cash and heart and tweet
And like the facebook page for season eleven.

Paul! Quick thanks to you. I know I've been suffering from depression for awhile - I just haven't been honest with myself about it. Watching the beginning of the stream, well, it helped. And helped me come to terms with it. So, thank you.
Obviously, I've been a LRR fan for a long time (since DB1 yo!) and my question is this: How, in your recommendation, would be the best way to get involved in this amazing community?
Thanks - stay awesome - and I donated for the beard, glad you are still rocking it!

Suffix, the best way is to post. Most of the community surrounding LRR are pretty cool.

Anyways, Doctor Paul, since we all know you're secretly a mad scientist, and you've already talked about House Hippos (TM), what more crazy biological experiments can we expect from you?

What is your favorite way of interacting with your fans?

What is the best and the worst parts of LRR?

And finally, Doctor Beard, what's it like being attached to Doctor Paul's face?

How do you gauge the lameness of a pun?
--
How have your experiences with The Escapist/PA/Desert Bus etc changed your conception of the brass ring? Put another way, how differently would you answer the proverbial 'what would you do if person X (CBC, BBC, a big US network etc) offered you fat stacks of cash' now compared to say, five ten years ago?
--
How grizzly do you like your bears? On that note:

Now that we've had videos with both you and Graham bearded, what're the chances of videos with both you and Graham clean shaven?

Any other good beard stories for us?

Tanks for your time Paul.

Oh, and a bunch of topical stuff:

What're your views on the end of PATV?

What does the passing of Nelson Mandela mean to you?

OK, we didn't make the Things On My Head stretch goal, but does that well and truly rule out any return of stuff balanced lovingly on your head?
