I've heard "ham" in fairly general usage outside of LRR in reference to something over-the-top or ridiculous, stemming from the glorious melodrama and saturated gothic visuals of Hammer Films productions.

The whole "tax collector" and "more gold, your Majesty" is from one of my favorite games "Majesty." It's sort of a RTS Sim game.

So Lion confirmed for next LRRcast?
That would make for an awesome Patreon goal, if you ask me. :D

Cheers

I'd never actually seen the 7UP commercial that Cam attributed to the origin of "Who's that thirsty fellow?" until a minute ago, but as soon as you started describing it I knew that had to have been part of their "Make 7UP Yours" series featuring comedian Orlando Jones, which a quick search confirmed (the link points to a video that strings a bunch of them together, the freeway one specifically is 1:30 into the video). Thanks for reminding me how funny some of those were, ha ha.

I'm almost certainly wrong, but I think that "Billy" might have something to do with Murdock's imaginary dog on The A-Team. Probably not, but when I hear a crazy guy talking to "Billy", that's what I think of.

I started using 'Oh baby girl!' at work whenever I finish something hard or I get lucky.

Now I can't stop using it.

I honestly thought that when "Taxman" Was being discussed that you were talking about Payday: The heist, where one of the later missions requires you to kidnap a target codenamed Taxman in order to steal like $100,000,000US

Blah, the Simpsons nerd in me felt all smart knowing the origin of "I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter" and posted about it, only to watch 30 more seconds to find that you all got there. Still, props to live fact checking. That's pretty sweet too.

Still haven't figured out why Alex sings Enya's "Who can say where the rain will fall" when he knocks a ragdolled enemy off of a cliff or bridge or other high object. It's funny, but I find myself increasingly curious.

Is it from a movie or television show?

Regarding why /k/ uses that letter, given the conversations I've heard from my friends that go there and what I've heard of other boards (I don't go to 4chan myself) the obvious reason that comes to mind is it's short for Kalashnikov. Back when Mikhail Kalashnikov (the creator the famous AK line including the AK47) died there was no end to the people mourning him on /k/ and saying how important he was to history, so it would make sense for the board to be named after him.

Watching this made me think a podcast just about crew members talking about their most memorable moments from streaming. And there were so many stream related event discussed here that I had personally never heard of.

"Mumble and Scream" is the title of my Bob Dylan/Rob Halford slashfic.

WRT calibre in game weaponry, Fear Effect 2 had the slightly built protagonist dual wielding .90 pistols. They were the starting guns...

I remember the Outlast let's nope "Spaghett fucked" actually had some buildup, specifically I think Kathleen was saying something along the line of "He's gonna spaghett you"

Or maybe I'm hallucinating memories.

Stopping power refers to the weight of the round and its ability to stop a charging attacker. It goes back to boxer rebellion in china in the late 1800's after the British army switched from Martini–Henry to the Lee–Metford, the troops were very unhappy with the new weapon and how much of a lighter round it was. one officer remarked that his troops had to fire four or five shots at point blank range to take down a charging boxer as opposed to the previous rifle which could drop a charging man in a single shot from much further away.

In regards to the "Billy" thing, I immediately thought of Grandpa Marsh from South Park. He refers to Stan as Billy and is sometimes asking him to do random things for him.

One Alex-ism I didn't think to ask about until recently, but where does "MAHP" come from? It only comes up when Alex gets winged with friendly fire or stung by a botched grenade throw, so it hasn't come up with most of the games he's been playing lately.

I'm almost certain that's a reference to the show Archer and the noise the characters make when they are deafened by grenades or gunfire.

I honestly think that we need a revisit of this topic in some format (LRL maybe?) in the future.
