Would you? :D

I actually found this in my physics book, It was intended for a physics problem of course, however, the juxtaposition was too funny to let go to waste.

Is the physics book seriously suggesting that you go make a 3m jump? That would hurt. Srsly.

No it's a hypothetical situation involving a master jewel thief and a police officer chasing, this master jewel thief also has some backroung knowledge in physics and thus the jump. But yeah a 3 meter drop is pretty nasty, not to mention you have to cover a horizontal distance of 4 meters so you'r have to be moving pretty fast so it would be no picnic. Seriously, do not try this at home, one you'd need a pretty big house to have two buildings inside for you to jump from one to the other... but do not try it yourself. I did some minor editing to the picture mostly for size, I moved the "Try it yourself" somewhat closer to the picture, also I removed the body of the problem from the image which didn't fit all the way into the scan to begin with.

Actually, yes, I would.

a 3m drop really isn't that much, especially if you know your safe-falls. 4m is a bit more difficult, but with the aid of a 3m drop, it's quite possible.

The reverse, on the other hand, would be more than difficult.

Perhaps I made a math error, but wouldn't you have to be going about 18.4 km/hr to make the jump?

That's about 11 miles/hr. Not too bad - top normal human running speed is supposed to be about 15 miles/hr for most people - but a challenge.

I think we got off the ASKLRR topic. And I blame me. And I'm sorry.

Will you at least try out one cocktail a week? You could taste them during the LRRcast sessions, and they might go more smoothly.

Do you like pumpkin pie? Does it bother you that most canned pumpkin is actually just generic winter squash?

Who would win in a fist fight:

Indiana Jones
or
Han Solo

Alja and I were having a debate in our dorm room about this and figured this would be a good place to ask.

We came to the conclusion that Han Solo MAY have sufficient fist-fighting ability, but it isn't shown. Indiana Jones, though his fighting style is very poor in a realistic outlook, still has more experience in melee combat.

But, though Solo isn't shown in close-combat, we accept that he has a good fighting spirit and would thus give Indiana Jones a run for his money, if not beat him.

Anyways...

So what you're saying is... You want to see Harrison Ford beat himself up???

---

How sufficiently prepared are you for an imminent rise of the undead? For example, how zombie proof is your house? What sort of defensive capabilities does your house contain? and where would be the first place you'd get to if you had to make good your escape?

I suppose that those of the crew whom have played Portal or watch youtube) have heard the song, "Still Alive" by Jonathon Coulton. Personally, this song makes me giggle because the song is cutesy and pop, but the lyrics are dark. So, I ask you:

What other songs have you listened to that either A) make you giggle childishly, or B) have dark lyrics over happy-go-lucky music?

Speaking of childish:

What common words or phrases make you giggle childishly?

(Such as when I heard in a song by another a cappella group, "It could even be the butt nymph." [sidenote: the song was sung by a girl with the chorus going "Oh the boob fairy never came for me."])

Jean is shorter then Brutus, but taller then Imhotep. Imhotep is taller than Jean, but shorter than Lord Scotland. Lord Scotland is twice the height of Jean and Brutus combined, but only a tenth of the heigh of Millsy. Millsy is at a constant height of [x - y]. If Jean stands exactly one nautical mile away from Lord Scotland, how tall is Imhotep?

(To view the answer hi-light the box.)
[Imhotep is invisible.]

Nice mostly-Russian! It sure looks funny not in cyrillic.

Do any of you have to specifically wear reading glasses? I wear contacts for general purposes but I have to wear some kind of reading glasses on top of them for close-up work.

Given a time machine and the sufficient amount of plutonium to run it twice (i. e. to go somewhen then return)

What time period would you go to?

Alternately, if you only had a one way trip possible, what period in time would you go to if you so chose? (What time period would you like to live in.)

Paradoxes excluded unless you really want one.

First Question
In the end of "Ballad of the Fanboy" when Jer opens the door for Tally I noticed that if he were to walk out of that door he would smash his forehead into the door frame. So my question follows, is Jer really tall or was this recorded in a house built for verticaly challenged.

Second Question
In Sweden we don't make that big fuzz about halloween so I couldn't even find a pumpkin therefore I couldn't participate in this weeks challenge, instead I think I'll try the blood thing out. Now, how big vail are we talking about here? If it's not more than about 0,5-1 dl I'm up to it.
