Graham and Paul didn't have to share mics, so they were able to be closer to them.

I said it in the blog, but to reiterate:
Condensor mics, for reals. You no longer have the problems of being too far away to be heard (I've picked up ridiculous amounts of noise from so far away on those things).
You might be able to get away with just one in the center of a table. This way everyone is the same distance away, so the sound stays even, but you don't have the other problems you've got right now.
The vocal quality is a tad worse than before, but the evening of sound makes this more than acceptable.

Hmmm... it's kind of a step sideways. The balance is better, but the tone is muddier. Graham's got a real sexy proximity-effect going on there; dipping the 80hz band on the Eurorack will help that. I really don't think a bunch of dynamic mics is the best solution for a group podcast. Now that you've got a mixer with phantom power, I should really just give you one of my omnidirectional mics (your built-in laptop mic was probably omnidirectional). Like, seriously, want it?
The other thing is that dropping the encoding rate to 40kbps CBR really hurts the quality. I highly recommend using LAME -V6 or -V7, which will yield an mp3 that's only about 40% bigger, but will sound about 10 times better.

None-hit wonder.

I have the same problem. Bloody hell, my headset mic is louder than my tv mic. There's something terribly screwed up there. >.> At least for my computer. On my camera it works a beaut.

I appreciate that you're trying to improve the audio quality of the LRRcasts, but all it really needs is to be doubled in volume in wavepad or something. Besides, it seems you've spent alot of money on it, wouldn't it be better spent on something else? Having said that, this week sounded better to me.
Also Matt, I've been collecting the Runners pics, so you can download them all (including some not in the thread) here, in case you haven't got round to it yet.

Also, Paul is correct, there was in fact such a thing as Metric Time instituted after the French Revolution, but it ended up been too confusing.
