Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
So as of right now, we have a 161 podcasts, but did you know the archive has 168 files? Do you know why?
The LRR Forum Community Profiles!!!
While this is because of a bias (apparently mine ran a little long, oops), I personally would love to see more of these for the future and I think that they are an awesome addition to the LRRcast archive. So I figured, why not start a thread in the LRRcast forum to discuss them (of course, if the crew wants this thread elsewhere, move it please, cuz I don't have those superheroic abilities)
Tim was doing this up until Proudfoot got "merger-zorbed" into LRR (read: Tim started helping eith the actual site content), so naturally I think someone else should take over. I know Hakaryu was/is doing crew profiles. Let me know if you have any suggestions, volunteers, or feedback in regards to these.

I enjoyed them, and would love to see more, to hear and understand more about my fellow forumites (and yes, eventually get interviewed myself with any luck).

Same as above really, the forum is full of very interesting people (Which may in part contribute to the polite sensibilities we get around here)

I would like to see more and possibly get interviewed, even though I haven't been here that long.

So how come Tim stopped doing these? Was it hard or time-consuming?. It seems like something that could easily get picked back up.

I don't remember why I stopped.
Probably laziness. It is a bit time-consuming, and recording them can be a bit of a hassle technologically.

Any chance you would do them again, or would you rather someone else did them?

Oooh - I've never actually heard these before. I guess I should take some time to listen to them before I vote.

Re: Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
I think it needed to be marketed forward a bit better. I do now remember when Tim was putting the feelers out there as to interest for forum interviews - although to be honest that's only because someone put me forward for one and then there was discussion of whether I counted as a forumite, being in that hazey 'LRR Crew/Not-LRR-Crew' zone that both Tim and I occupy. But beyond noticing that forum way back, I don't remember actually seeing any of these interviews posted anywhere. Maybe they were forum posts originally?
Trouble with that is that not everyone in the forum reads the forums regularly (i'm talking about me here), and often topics will haze below sightline pretty quickly. I think it is a good idea, I don't think it's front-page material because I doubt anyone but forumites would care, but maybe if the interviews were made as stickies for a few weeks it would be more noticeable?

Re: Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
I think if there was an effort to make it a regular kind of thing, one sticky would work really well. The interviewer could just edit the name of thread to signify a new one was coming and who it would be, and then a new post on the thread would describe/announce it in more detail, then people are free to discuss on that thread, and the cycle repeats.

Oh I'll have to listen to some of these.
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Evidently I missed these the first time around. I'll have to give them a listen.

I'm just getting to them, in my binge of listening to the entire archive consecutively, and was wondering where they'd gone. I enjoyed them, but I don't feel particularly strongly about them. I'd rather have free cake.

After listening...
Tim, yes I would love to see a loading time of the editing process. That would be really interesting to see. I think a lot of people would like it, if Graham doesn't mind giving away his secrets.
Tensen, we still haven't seen that picture have we? Of Graham and Paul with the video equipment?

Better not let Cake hear you say that.
(But you're right!)
I remember enjoying these, and I think they're a great way to get to know the more established forum members (i.e. ones that have been around for a while, are fairly well-known, and are likely to stay active in the forums). I definitely felt that they looked a bit out of place as they were, though, with just a few thrown in among the main podcasts without much advertisement. Rebranding is needed, my friends!

I'd really like to see someone from the crew, or co-crew, to bring this back.

If people were to feed me questions, I'd be willing to conduct and record interviews.

Well, you could probably just use the same questions Tim used during the last couple of ones, where he had more of a format with the special features and whatnot.

That was the poster that Tensen drew for DBFH, with the Contra style front, with both Paul and Graham totally jacked holding a shotgun mic and rifle camera.

Re: Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
It seems like a novelty that would only appeal to people who frequent the forums and know who is being interviewed, which is not the majority of the LRR fanbase, so I don't think it should really counst as an official part of the site. If some other forum member of Tim or whoever wanted to do it in their spare time though, it'd be interesting enough I suppose.

Re: Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
I think it's rare that someone listens to the podcasts without being on the forums. Ergo, they would probably be interested in this sort of thing. I know I am.
Please, more!

You have no way of proving if that's true or not, so your point is pretty moot.

Re: Also In the LRRcast Archive: Community Profiles
I know of a few people that listen to the podcasts but don't go on the forum. And just look at the introduction thread about all the people who just signed up but have being following for a while. I went through the entire archive of podcasts and videos before I joined up.
