You guys totally forgot about Morgan's Problem. Proving once again that the guitar is the most overused of all controller gags. By the way, who's Morgan?

You can have as much of cream as you want, Matt *wink*.

And look at that, while I was listening, the video update arrived. Huzzah!

There are arrows on the ground in England telling you what way to look if you don't want to get hit by a bus. I found them very useful on a number of occasions.
However, if I could pick a video game concept to apply to real life I would have to go with quick save/quick load. I found myself trying to push F5 before going into a test one day and I knew I had been playing Oblivion for too long.

Definitely a happy day when we get both a new video AND a new LRRcast, albeit overdue on the latter :P

Jer mentions the original Dragon Warrior in this podcast, so I figured this would be an okay place to mention this. I've thought about this for a while, trying to come up with ANY other game that would be as painful and as tedious and Desert Bus for a game marathon, and Dragon Warrior is the only thing that comes remotely close.

Sure, I've seen a Tool Assisted Speed Run that beats it in under 20 minutes, but real life luck doesn't work that way. Even knowing exactly what to do, it still has to take the better part of four days of grinding to beat that game, including all the times your sure to die. Granted, it doesn't require 24/7 button pushing the way Desert Bus does, but it is assuredly punishing and tedious. I've occasionally wondered if the punishment for crashing the bus should be playing another game outside of the required hours. So I ask the LRR forums: Is there a game that actually ranks on the continuum between Dragon Warrior and Desert Bus on the tedium scale?

ET?
That's the only thing that comes to mind immediately.

I dunno. I mean, ET is very terrible, it's true. At least in Desert Bus, you know what makes you die. Not pushing left.

For ET, it's more ambiguous. I mean, I have a copy of ET and have played it on my Atari. In my experience, things that result in death include moving, not moving, and pushing a button. This seems... ambiguous.

Granted, in Dragon Warrior, standing still doesn't kill you. But it does play that same damn music over and over. More than once in Dragon Warrior (or Final Fantasy, for that matter) I got an unoffical Game Over when my mom ordered me to go play outside because she was sick of "that stupid music".

Oh snap! How about this. Crashing the bus forces you to play Final Fantasy I... with an all White Mage Party!

Nah, that's not fair. That's even worse than forcing Matt to see New Moon multiple times. And that's horribly evil as it is.

I gotta say, I love a challenge. I don't know what I'd do, but I'd be willing to take this for a spin.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, when Tim talked about the LRRunners Youtube channel, I have a better version of Dead Man's Hand that I made in the interest of making it a DVD or something, where I fixed a few of the errors in it. Maybe I could put that up there. (Generally, I try to eschew redundancy, but it would be a better version.)

I can't quite make up my mind about this one. I have actually found myself frantically thinking "Undo! UNDO!" after screwing up IRL, so quicksave would be real handy, but I'd be more tempted to take the ability to teleport to anywhere I'd already visited. That way, if I left my house on foot and it was pouring down with rain by the time I wanted to return, I could skip out the whole unpleasant soaking experience. Which would be sweet.

Also, you'd never have to worry about getting lost or stranded anywhere. And you could extend a large travel network to get yourself pretty much anywhere in the world by travelling somewhere, 'porting back home, and then starting from where you left off the next day.

ooo...Good one. Traveling by folding the map.

I still stand by quick save though. It is like making your life a "Choose your own adventure" book and you get to cheat and go look at page 63 and see if you die by going down the creepy stairs.

Domestic Strife! Domestic Strife!

Also, in regards to the naming question, I named my first D&D Online Games character, a half-elf cleric, Eustace Thrimbletrimmer. No joke, here's the link: http://www.dndonlinegames.com/profiler/view.php?id=3349

Cheers to Tensen01!

Thank you very much for the complements. ^__^ The Angry Lemon was a poster featuring the logo just to give a "practical application" of how it would be used. I really should have sent a .gif of just the logo instead of the .eps(which may have been hard to open) but that was my bad.

I was afraid that the slogan might go over peoples heads but I'm really happy that ya'll got it. =D

Woo first post.

Question for Jer and Graham, what makes Bram Stoker's Dracula so bad? I'm a fairly critical guy when it comes to movies, and I've watched some serious crap in my time, but Dracula? I enjoy it and I wouldn't call it bad (it's certainly no super-awesome film and major award winner, but still). Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder's acting aside, I think it's still enjoyable.

Oh, and nice zing by Tally there near the end. ;)

I believe it's Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder's acting that makes it so bad, mostly Keanu Reeves.

I'm going to contend that two bad actors can't destroy a whole movie. Especially when Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman are so awesome.

Keanu Reeves can not play a British person.

In my opinion his most believable role to date was either Ted "Theodore" Logan (An over-the-top rock musician for whom my brother was almost named (I nearly got Bill)) or Klaatu (A completely inhuman and borderline unemotional alien sent to destroy all human life).

Essentially, Keanu Reeves is basically incapable of portraying anything approximating a living, breathing human being.

When your height at age 19 is 5'1", being named William is a bit of a problem.

Being called "Tiny Tim" was bad enough.
