No CAPTCHA during registration
Sedorox (from the IRCs) reported that there is no CAPTCHA image appearing when he attempts to register. I've reproduced this on both Firefox and Chrome. This prevents any new registrations.
I'm guessing this has to do with SpaMEGAdon?

Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
Ok, should be working now. Looks like something was messing up with ReCAPTCHA. I have switched over to phpBB built in captchas and they seem to be working.

I can verify that it is indeed working, as evidence by my shiny new account on these forums.
"All held the finite and infinite as unrelated. None could forsee that the history of the two would become one."

So its working and look... the Spambots are back.

PHPBB's inbuilt CAPTCHA's are worthless, you might as well be running without any CAPTCHA.

Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
We need a CAPTCHA that asks "What is the most recent LRR (not Feed Dump, Unskippable or Checkpoint) video?" or something. It'd confound the hell out of spambots, but anyone who wants to register would almost certainly know the answer.

We're working on figuring a plan for this.
Manual approval isn't being ruled out, but it's a last-ditch option.

New CAPTCHA system - Display a video and ask what the title is
For added difficulty, only display a random frame from a random video

Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
That... that's not a bad idea, Fugi. As long as the videos have the title displayed in the video itself early on, so making short, easy to load clips of the beginning of the cHustle Season 1 videos would do it. There's no way spambots would be able to get it, even the 'farm it out to others' method would probably be foiled.

Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
Ok, new plan. I have enabled a new captcha system similar to the one used on the wiki. It has a database of easy questions pertinent to LRR and you have to answer correctly to be allowed to register. I don't have too many questions right now and the system is more secure with more questions, so feel free to PM, email or post in this thread any easy questions that can be quickly answered by looking at the about page or the wiki.

Just logged out to check the reg page. Found the best question ever: "What does LRR stand for?" <-- love it. Who needs other questions?

Hm. That's the same one I got. It might not be cycling through questions properly?

How many basic bytes are free? (Hint: Look up!)
Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
You could do some questions about the crews sirnames, anyone registering here should know them or be able to find them. The only one that might confund people is Kathleen's.

Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
I don't know. I didn't know the names when I signed up and I didn't know about the LRR wiki. Faced with that question at the time I'm not sure if I would have continued with the registering process. Maybe if the question were immediately followed by something along the lines of "full cast details can be found here," with a link to the about page or the wiki's cast page.
Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
I know there's been some spam since the change. It's likely they registered beforehand and haven't posted yet. It'll take a few days to root them out.
Re: No CAPTCHA during registration
You know what you need? Quicktime events or DDR competitions to register! That'd make you REALLY have to want it to endure that!
