LRR v9.0

Hey All,

As you may have noticed, I have just pushed out a big update to the site. I have been working on this for a while, so it is nice to finally have it live!

Some features you may be interested in:

Big videos! - Our videos are HD, why not display them as such?
LRRcast categories - With our new commitment to podcasting, it made sense to separate the different LRRcast shows
Better LRRcast layout - Audio and video podcasts are now integrated together. Click on the speaker icon to get the audio version.
ALL audio LRRcasts now online - A lot of LRRcasts have been offline since Blip.tv discontinued their audio hosting, but they should now all be back thanks to Archive.org
No stupid banner ads! - While our latest ad server was an improvement over what we had before, we still have had problems and frankly they weren't paying us enough to be worth it. We are not saying that LRR will never have banner ads again but we are going to try it without for a while. What we will be doing is putting smaller ads for our own products in the sidebar to let you know when we restock items or have a preorder going on.
Wider forum - without the banner ad, we can make the forum the whole width of the site. Think of it as IN HD!
Our Shows - The Our Shows section in the sidebar will always give you quick and easy access to the latest episode of each of the many shows LRR produces every week.
Magic - We have added a new video category for all our Magic the Gathering videos. Not only stuff like Friday Nights and other bonus content, but you will now also be able to see all the recorded Magic Online drafts that Graham and James do each week for MTGOAcademy.

And lots of other stuff! As with any site update, you may need to refresh while holding SHIFT to ensure you have the latest style sheet and graphics. Also if you experience any errors, broken links or other weirdness, please let me know, either in this thread or via email ([email protected]).

It looks glorious, Paul. You've really outdone yourself. It looks superb.

It looks much sleeker than the old layout... which is already fading from my memory.

LoadingReadyRun, the only site nowadays that seems to improve with each new incarnation.

That part about doing a shift-reload is good to mention. Mine was kind of glitching out until I did so. It looks very good. The only issue I can see is under the "Our Shows", the dates take up two lines and the bottom half of the year goes into the background, becoming hard to read in some cases. At least it is on my browser. It seems fine in Firefox. So the issue seems to be on IE update version 9.0.12.

Fantastic work Paul - there are no words over how much it is improved, and I didn't really have any complaints about the old layout!

Just saw the icons for the LRRcasts and love it! If you haven't looked at it yet go look each one has its own little icon now!
Did notice as well Loading Time has its own section under videos now!

Great job, Paul. I really like the frame that rotates through all of the latest updates.

Love the new site layout Paul, well dong! :D

Why couldn't Google hire you to design a new layout for Youtube? Then it would work and not frustrate me. :|

It looks great, though I found one minor error. Under "Subscribe" where it has the links to the Twitter and so on, the word "Feed" for the LRRcast feed runs into Facebook, so it's visually jarring. Like I said though, it's a minor problem with a quick fix I'm sure.

EDIT: Dangit! I found another one! All of the dates on the "Our Shows" bar have the years on a second line off of the latest video title bar.

Why am I being that guy that points out all the faults? I'm sorry!

(Also, if this is version 9.0, you might want to change the banner to reflect it.)

Tak, refresh the page, neither of those are things you should be seeing.

Awesome, awesome stuff, Paul. Very impressed. :)
Love the updated "info" page.

A few minor issues, at least in Chrome 26.0.1386.0 on Win 7

Forum still says 8.0, even after a forced refresh. It's got the 9.0 nav bar, though.
All MtGO Academy drafts after the first and Friday Nights don't show up under the MtG archive: http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/archive/MtG
(I don't know if you can "dual-tag" Friday Nights as cH and MtG, though. If you can't, I guess it'll have to only stay in one. If you can, obviously "It's Magic" should also qualify.)
Cursed Crusade Part 19 doesn't show (unless Graham hasn't uploaded it yet, in which case, he did say to remind him :D)
LRRcasts "cHustle 05" and "LRRcast for a Standup Guy" have "dates" of "November 30, -0001"
The following videos are under "Bonus" when they should be under "Loading Time": "Crazy One Time", "The Gangnam Style Expo", "The Horror of Dirty Underwear", "On the Case of Cats", and "Raindrops Keep Falling"

Also, is TapTapConcede supposed to be under the MtG archive as well? If so, it's not. If not, because it's a podcast, then... well, I guess that goes back to the "dual-tag" issue.

Did you want to put all the recorded Twitch drafts under MtG as well?

We haven't added all the MTGOAcademy videos yet.
Good point about Friday Nights though... I guess those should be under MtG and not cH, if we have to choose.

I still forgot to upload GPLP PT19... I'll do that tomorrow :(

Hmm. Mine's glitching out pretty badly. Weird placement of buttons, with a rotating set of images screwing up scrolling. Mac, using Chrome.

Edit: Never mind. Shift reloading didn't fix it, but a full cache clear out did.

Slight bug for me, just like JackSlack. There is a gap as shown below.
Image
If I scroll down the page to look at items earlier in the week everything jumps up and down when the pictures change. When I clicked on Forum it takes me to whatever video the thumbnail has changed to.
OS Windows. I'm using Chrome, FireFox and IE (happens in all of them).

Elomin: As Paul said, you need to Shift+Refresh, not just refresh. Do whatever it does to clear your cache. I had that issue, too, but it went away with a cache clearing.

Yeah, I had to Shift+Refresh several times on both the main page and the forums to get everything to show up properly, but now that it has, I'm really liking it.

Go HD forum!

Having no problems myself.

And I also hafta say I like this update a lot... It's Drastic yet doesn't FEEL drastic. Nicely organized.

If anyone's sitting an a .gif of Paul yelling "IN HD!" Now would be the time.

I remember eagerly awaiting this after PAX, but I'd totally forgotten that this was a thing! Hooray for 9.0! The box beneath the video viewing window explaining the show was a nice touch.

Side-note: I noticed that some of your Loading Times are still under "Bonus."

I think it might be CTRL+F5 in Chrome, shift+F5 wasn't doing anything for me. Looking very nice so far, I'm at work though so I'll take a more thourough look when I get home.
