Hey Paul, I've noticed something. In the adds spaces on the front page, I only ever get one for Phatbunny, 'advertise here' or this.
Image
Also, I can't remember the last time I saw anything other than 'advertise here' on the forums. I think this was happening before the Time Warner thing with Revver (I'm not on TW), but I guess it could be still be Revver.

I apolagise if this has been brought up elsewhere, it's been happening for a while. Not that I care if there isn't any advertising, but you might.

We're working on something new with the ads, that's why.

Any news about moving the ad bar to the left side?
I can't think of a signature.

Sadly, that's blip.tv's issue. I don't think there's anything LRR can do about those.

Such AWFUL music, seriously! >_<

I got them too, but it's at the end of a video, not randomly loaded with the page, so I'm fine with them so long as LRR makes some monies off em.

So I just went to watch an older video and my browser got hijacked. I didn't get a shot of the ad itself, but I did get the site it sent me to. I don't know if that'll help, but here it is:

Can we make fun of the colour instead?

Yeah, WOW that's unpleasant. But I'm also extremely light-sensitive, especially to warm colors like bright reds. So maybe I'm the only one who gets a headache looking at that.

I'm with you, I have extremely bad eyes, and bright reds do not help at all.

i would like to say that i think the ads are fine and if i ever make a website i will be buying so ads, and if i see anything on that banner that sounds like i might actually buy it, i'll click thinking of you guys.

just thought i would throw that out there, after every a little down on the ads, i like LRR and if some ads in the banner is what it takes than i can live with that quite well.

besides, if it werent for ads i would never of learnt that the banana tree is a Herb.

oh and carrots too, they are herbs.

Fire away. I freely admit I have no taste when it comes to desktops. Would you believe that's not even the worst I've ever had? :D I may have done the world a great favor by not going into graphic design.

Iwashere, I don't mind the ads themselves, I just don't like it when they take over and do things they're not supposed to.

In my work there are some screens for a client we use that used to have Black Text, Red text and a Dark Red Text (burgandy or some such) colour and we had a worker who was colour blind and couldn't differencate between the colours.

Black Text was optional things he could say to a customer on the phone.

Red Text was stuff he HAD to read to a customer on the phone.

And Dark Red was prompts that he was to keep to himself. None the less we had to change the colours so he looks at Pink, Yellow and that really light blue colour.
It was really too big:

I give you this instead

Ok maybe i was exaggerating a little. (Though i am both blue/green AND blue/red colour blind... rubbish) but it would hurt my eyes somewhat to look at that for too long.

Huh...blue/green? Sorry to pry, I've just never heard of a blue/green color blind, just red/green and blue/yellow.

I've heard of blue/green colourblindess before, in fact, it's the other two that I haven't heard of.

Yeah, my father is a little blue/green colourblind.
I've always thought that the more distinct colours would be rarer to mix up.

Any two colors you can have color blindness for.

The rarest varieties are two colors opposing themselves on the color wheel, while the most common are two colors adjacent on the color wheel.
I can't think of a signature.

I'll tell you the colours i have problems with (as far as i'm aware, cos i might have not be able to distinguish more but how would i know if they've never posed enough of a problem?);
The main ones are things like murky colours, browns, deep greens, burgandy type reds, really dark oranges etc, For instance i have some Kahki trousers and some brown trousers, and i always thought that kahki was just a slightly different shade of brown to the other trousers i have. Apparently though, it's green??? Crazy, i still can't see any green in them. Also, i have a university of portsmouth hoody which I thought was that same browny colour as a blanket/throw i have, but nope, that's green too.

This, as you can imagine, makes certain games exponentially more difficult to play. Especially ones where you have to find switches in the walls of caverns etc. I remember playing Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2, and being stuck completely, un-able to progress through as there were things i had to pick up which to me just blended into the background and there were also switches that do the same thing.

But then i also have this problem with greys and blues. As i discovered when someone was playing FFIX the other week in the flat. I couldn't physically see a character that they were talking to on screen in a castley bit of the game. And apparently there's little cat things that you have to find sometimes that i have no clue about because they're designed to blend into the background a little to be a challenge. It's very very annoying in games like this.

As you can imagine, the recent trend of making everything brown or grey in this generation of gaming makes things rather frustrating. It's taken me hours to finish the story on Fallout for example (which btw, wtf at the ending. Does it even matter what you've done the entire rest of the game?)
