Phailhaüs - 09

Postby Graham » 23 May 2008, 09:28

I wanted to cut it down, because... seriously, 7:38? Damn.

But then, I just thought it was all pretty much awesome, so. Yeah.

Besides, it moves quickly enough.

I'm on DayQuil right now, actually.

If our eyes could see light with a wavelength as long as 2 mm you would see that the sky is uniformly bright to with in one part in a hundred thousand due to the cosmic microwave background.

You guys are on a roll with the bonus videos lately! The Phailhaüs videos are quickly becoming my favorite ones on the site.

I wish I had a picture to submit to the pic of the day thing, but the only thing worth noting in Richmond is a sign next to a Bhuddist temple saying "No Trespass!" Kinda weak.

yeah... Pennsylvania also has Paradise and Climax... and Climax, Blue Ball and Bird-In-Hand are all in Lancaster (where the amish people are...) and we also like to name cities after other places: Bethlehem, New Jerusalem, Indiana, California, etc.. yeah, we're SPECIAL...

also, I live about 45 minutes from Easton... note to self do not give money to small child in boyscout uniform....

Wow; it's a great one, and well worth the extra duration!

On the other hand, there've been plenty of bonus vids mostly due to the vast amounts of phail in the news lately; lotsa material...

...which, unfortunately I've heard of already. :(
(Seriously, I hooked up with Bob and Tom™ - a syndicated Indianapolis radio morning show - again some years after listening daily during my temporary residence in the U.S.; every news article you folks mentioned this time, I'd heard either Kristi or Tom announce sometime this week. )

Good video, although still not enough of the Phail-Fone phootage. Get out your fone and start philming, Graham!

I thought Adam wouldn't give a shit, seeing as he is seriously awesome.

As for Easton, PA,... yeah, totally close to there. No more than 31 miles from here. Whereas korri is about 53 miles from there.

But yeah, anyway... cold medication is fun. Though if I am sick, I sleep a lot so the cold medicine takes its effects while I am forming drool animals on my pillow. (Eww.)

Additionally, the 'absence of light' (and for Lord Crusher's sake we'll just specify visible light here) to which you refer is actually the correct description for the color black. Black is the combination of all pigments and conversely the absence of all light, whereas white is the absence of all pigments and the presence of all light.

So yes. Space is black.

Anytime somebody says 'white is not a color' or 'black is not a color', they are, in both cases, both wrong and right, dependent on one's perspective. So that's cool.

Also I wish to point out that at visible wavelengths the night sky is far from dark. A lot of the sky brightness is man made light reflected off the sky. Other contributions come from sunlight scattering off dust in the solar system and astronomical objects too faint for the eye to resolve as well as sun light and starlight interacting with the earth's atmosphere.
