$25,000.
And, I don't know. But it'll probably look shinier. I guess?
Don't hold me to that.
What new equipment would you consider? A make up trailer? A robot that writes funny jokes and offers candy? Weather-alteration machinery?
Or perhaps, ***GASP***, a second camera? I know, it's insane to think of right?

Depends what Canadas Mac Pro's look like - the Australian ones are a bit outdated now unfortunately and still cost $4000 for a $1,500 rig. Still, a solid idea - faster editing it all ways good.
And I do mean, all ways.

Anything that increases the amount of time Graham gets to edit seems to be a good possibility.
Don't for the the 1% of net sales! That might be like, $100!

EDIT: It's hard to say how Doritos is counting the fan voting into their 50% formula, fan vote vs. judges vote. KaBLAM ended up at #157, but they've taken down the ratings. They were intentionally vague on how the fan vote would be tallied, though. Even if it's straight rating, they were all voted down heavily and that's likely going to put most of them on a fairly even field. The fan/judge combined vote cuts it down to 20 and then the judges pick the top 5 semi-finalists from that. Results will be announced on March 24.
It would be a huge boon just have them selected as semi-finalists.

To have Graham and/or Paul's face plastered over Canadian television and the Tnternet would be pretty good free exposure.

The hand in the kablam one looked kinda fake, which put me off a bit. Still funny though. Personally the overload one was not only the best one I saw (I got really bored and scrolled through a bunch of them on that site) but also a good name to match. A lot of the other videos that were decent had a really bad/too long of a name. Good luck in the contest, hope you guys win.

It seems to me like this one is the strongest opposition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDm8zZJ1Y2k

If you'll let me interject with complete conjecture, the rules are pretty vague in how the internet vote would be counted in the first rounds. The only aspect specifically mentioned in the offiicial rules is how the rating system would work (thumbs up vs. thumbs down). It didn't say those would be used, so views may very well play into it. They can massage them any way they want to get a favored video or two squeaking into the Top 20, then the judges can legally move it into the top 5 semi-finalists. The internet vote was something of a sham for the first round, but everyone entering probably know that.
The winning commercial will, unfortunately, be based solely on Internet voting. Maybe Nunchuck Fail should've been their Doritos Ad.

It should also be pointed out that when you sort by highest rated, that's by percentage of people who liked it out of the people who voted for it, so if you submitted your video like a minute before the deadline and asked your friends to vote for it, you probably got pretty high because nobody had a chance to mark it down.
They'll probably have to do it by the number of positive votes as opposed to the %, or perhaps a more complex formula.
But like I said earlier, the rules clearly state that the internet vote is only one component of the decision process.

semi-final rounds determine finalists.
they would be more accurately called "pre-finals."
Watch a pro-sports tournament at some point. When there are semi-finalists, there are no finalists.

His_Ryanness wrote:So "semi-finalists" means the people who won the semi-finals?
it means "the people who will be in the semi-finals," or "halfway to the finals."
finalists have won the semi-finals.
the winner wins the finals.
semi- (lat) (pref) half.
