Torchlight!
Torchlight!
Anyone looking forward to this next week? Made by some of the team that worked on Mythos before it went under, who were then picked up by Blizzard and made Torchlight.

Should hold me over until Diablo 3. Sadly, no multiplayer but it comes with all the mod/editing tools so with a good community the replay value could be endless. I've already pre-ordered my copy and can't wait to crack into it.

Re: Torchlight!
That looks really interesting; thanks for letting me know it existed!
I'll probably get it and try to sneak some play time in here and there, which'll be easier to do if it's just single-player.

Torchwood?
Re: Torchlight!
a review blog with uploaded videos is being updated.... so stoked for this game.
Re: Torchlight!
got hold of it today. not that bad. actually plays like diablo. only issue is the WoW style graphics but the fact they haven't dumbed it down for WoW players is an instant plus when compared to Diablo 3.

Played the demo today. I liked it a lot. And at $20, I can afford it! I'm going to play through the demo with the other classes first, and then if I still like it I'll buy it.
I really wish there was multi-player. Then it would be an instant buy.

Re: Torchlight!
i'm loving it, totally worth the 20 bucks. they're releasing the editor to the public so replay value is going to go through the roof. tons to do, combat is satisfying and loot is great.
must buy for diablo/titan quest fans

This reminds me of FATE.
Re: Torchlight!
some of the torchlight team worked on fate, and the guy who did the music did it for diablo 1 and 2.

Re: Torchlight!
Ah, that explains it.
Re: Torchlight!
My wife played a few minutes of the demo. She loved it so much that she bought the full game on the spot so that she wouldn't lose her character progression. That's a pretty strong recommendation if you ask me
Re: Torchlight!
i'm excited for this just for the music to be honest. has anyone listened to the diablo 2 sound track just as music? its amazing.

Re: Torchlight!
I've never played a Diablo-like game aside from Dark Angel on the PS2 (which from watching videos this game looks similar). Would I like this game?

I recommend you try the demo. It's available on Steam (and probably from other places too).

I've only played the demo so far but it looks to be a good game. I'm probably going to buy it soonish. $20 isn't that bad a price either

Re: Torchlight!
How did this thread disappear to quickly? I guess without multiplayer it doesn't get much attention. I downloaded the demo and have played through some levels with each of the three classes. I started with the Destroyer and was thoroughly unimpressed. The Vanquisher was a little more fun and the Alchemist was loads of fun. I'll be buying it when I get home tonight.
I heard loot drops aren't any better on harder difficulties or on hardcore. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with that? Sounds kind of stupid.

But if the loot drops are better, it wouldn't be as hard... That's my immediate thought. I can't confirm or deny this, as I've only got the one character that I'm playing through on hard difficulty

I totally bought Dragon Age this week instead of Torchlight but I will buy it once I'm done.
