Well, in this case, even if you don't have online, you can still play both Single Player and Spec Ops mode. You might finish Single Player in a couple days, but the challenge levels will take a fair amount longer.

Truth.

I mean the game came out on Tuesday and everyone I know that started the single player campaign is already done with it.

That I have beaten it doesn't mean I'm done with it.

Yes but I don't fork over 60 bucks so I can comb the game for achievements either. For me thats not fun, its work.

But to each their own.

You could just rent a game if you were just in it for achievements. Just like the first one, there are no multiplayer achievements. If you were just looking for the score, you could rent it. But then you'd love the game and want to play it over and over, so you'd buy it anyway.

You guys are all talking like I bought it only for the singleplayer, and never plan to play multi ever.

BOTH parts of the game are good, I just happen to really enjoy the single player experience.

well, seeing as how between trying you to play CoD4 with us and you got to about level 4 in that game's multiplayer... makes it pretty apparent you're not a huge fan of the multiplayer.

I'm level 20 in CoD4.

And it's sweet - I just don't play a lot of any game's multiplayer.

I just hit 20 myself. Waiting to hit the high 20s when the good guns unlock. The early rifles have no accuracy, they jump around so much you'd think they were trying to escape my noob hands.

That works for me. I'm very much a spray'n'pray type player. The MP5-K with rapidfire is my friend.

Who's gotten a throwing knife kill? That's insulting to the other player. And super fun.

Two days to complete on Veteran (12-13 hours - Modern Warfare 1 took me longer). It was a good game, entertaining but there are few errors that it could have had sorted. Levels don't flow into each other (could have done with a few more in the middle). Spec Op missions I'm enjoying though shame that the game doesn't make you work like COD:MW or COD2.

Since I don't have a gold account I can't play games like these online so I usually pass them up because of the short single player mode, otherwise i'd get more CoD games.

Frankly, the single-player in Cod2 and 4 are totally worth it.

MW2 is a little on the short side, but still fucking epic.

but seriously, worth it after a price drop.

Or just pick up a live card.

I can afford a gold account, I just don't have anyway to hook it up to the router right now. A gold cards cheaper then an ethernet cable or a wireless rig.

I have been thinking of grabbing CoD4 though.

If you're going for story, definitely get cod4 before mw2.

they're somewhat continuous.

Have you played Bad Company? I was looking into that one to as a fun FPS to play.

Bad Company is a good game, the story is basically Three Kings but funnier. The levels are very big (can be annoying if you have to retrace long distances with no vehicles left).

Yeah, there is a recap in the "mission" "For the Record", but it only makes sense if you already played CoD4.

Really enjoying the multiplayer, though I really miss some of the maps from COD4, along with the COD4 hardcore mode. The loss of semi-automatic rifles in MW2*, and increase in HP in hardcore really hurts.

It would have been nice for PC owners to be able to migrate their COD4 maps over.. But then again, that would be a GOOD feature. :?

*The FAL doesn't count since it has the same stats and recoil over time as the SCAR, except the SCAR is firing over 1.5x faster and starts with an extra magazine

I loved the stealth insertion mission in COD4, so the fact that they gave us like six more of them here (including Spec Ops) is fantastic for me.

As for the FAL not being a semi-auto rifle, isn't it basically a rifle that fires as fast as you can pull the trigger? The difference between it and the SCAR is that where you can keep the FAL relatively accurate even with multiple shots, the SCAR jumps around like a fire hose so that you're stuck using it in short bursts. But I guess that's a matter of opinion.

Here is my impression of single player. Actually, I'll put it this way. Infinity Ward should never be trusted to DM anything. As soon as you got attached to anything it would get killed.

IW: You see a puppy.
Player: Aww, I pet it.
IW: The puppy explodes.

Seriously guys! Stop killing me!

Epic game.
