Halo Blood Lines has stolen my ship

Postby Radar005 » 30 Nov 2009, 14:52

Hello this is my first time as a member on LRR and I'm very happy to be here, but if it wasnt for Marvel, I would be a lot happier. The new halo comic "Halo Blood Lines" has, to what I believe, taken my google sketchup ship and used the design as their own. Call it a coincidence, but I think there are to many similarities between my ships and the ship in the comic to call it a coincidence, just take a look for yourself if you please.

I think it is a coincidence. The parts you outline are parts I have seen on many scifi ships.

Sorry, but I have to go with a coincidence as well, I have a hard time seeing a Marvel artist searching through the sketchup database for designs to steal. You just happen to be drawing from the same inspiration, and came up with similar designs. And like longshot said, those pieces are common to many, many sci-fi ships.

I could easily find the halo ships in pretty much any other sci-fi based game/movie/tv show and show you the same bits. Namely Aliens, Starship Troopers, Bits of Star wars, Red Dwarf among others. The design of large spaceships that have cargo bays, distinguishable bridges an engines.

What the ship in the comic first reminded me of was the Daedalus from Stargate, but with two sets of stubbier engine pods.

The exact resemblance of the front windows is a bit fishy.

Yeah, those windows are friggen duplicates. The artist has to have at least seen the image.

I think this guy was just spreading this around the net.

But seriously, look at the front windows of the ship on the bottom. They're exact.

Yeah...final verdict, if they're ripping off anything, it's the Daedalus.

Better Final Verdict: Dude saw sketches of the Bloodlines ship. He made a google sketchup of it. Now he's trying to convince people they stole from him.

I am pretty sure that Marvel is out to get your ideas and steal them from you. And considering you have made no further posts since then, I am pretty sure they have found you and extracted your brain and sent it back to the Triskelion.

to be honest i thought their ship looked more like the crashing one from the start of "pitch black"

but other than that, yep. those front windows alright.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait...

How did he get ahold of a comic a month before it was released? And it doesn't say Halo or Marvel anywhere on those shots. So, it wouldn't be a pre-release shot. They tend to watermark their previews.

Yeah, the best I can do right now is spread this around. I've already sent a letter to Marval, though I do not believe that they will acknowledge it.

Look at the post date in the upper right side.

I would not find it highly unlikely that the artist hit a "drawing block" so searched some images, flipped through some stuff, found some stuff he liked and stuck them into a drawing. He might have stole some elements from other ships as well. Plagiarism is not uncommon.

That front panel is just too ridiculously similar.

Is there a reason not to? I find it easier to read and follow when its broken up.

I also prefer to make a second post than edit my first. Because I'm lazy and so it doesn't go unnoticed by some. You gonna make a big whup about that too. Because I will fight about it.
