What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
What I mean is, what game did you pay the most for the least amount of playtime and entertainment?
For me, it was paying $35 for Realmyst, a game I played ONCE (and was just a retread of Myst. What the fuck was I thinking?)For my brother, it was Soldier of Fortune: Payback (don't remember how much he paid).
What was yours?

$60 - The Last Remnant
I did one quest and it's been collecting dust on my shelf ever since.
If you saw the Unskippable episode, you know why.

Like $70 for Infinite Undiscovery. Got maybe 2 hours out of it, most of that being terrible cutscenes, as seen on Unskippable.

Borderlands, Spoiler Warning
Through the entire game, they build up the story around the vault and make it sound so mysterious as to what could be in it, whether it be a mountain of money or ancient relics.
You get there and kill some C'thulu wannabe that drops shit for loot then get a pat on the back and some pity cash.
BAM, 18 hours and $60 wasted.

Alone in The Dark for x360. Got it during launch week for $60us, of course this was one of the few times where I did not look at the reviews first and I wish I had. Two hours in and I wanted to break my controller. Luckly I was able to get $45 on a trade in to get rid of it. What a shit game.

Silent Hill 4. dunno, just gave up when i started running to the damn Wall Men (this is quite early in the game). i payed 2 bucks for it. might give it another go some time, though.
also, STALKER: Shadow Over Chernobyl when it was still a buggy piece of crap and couldn't get passed infinite respawning bandits. i payed $30. but i hear they fixed quite a bit, which means i might get the patches and give it another go, since for some reason it won't uninstall from my hard drive.
also, i agree that the ending of Borderlands was an anticlimactic letdown, but the rest of the game is sheer, mindless fun, especially co-op. more than makes up for it, IMO.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
Bad Company, probably cost me about £20, and I played it for about 1 hour, the single player felt dated and bored the crap out of me. Not to mention that it played like absolute shit. Then the multi player was just weird with squares around targets (or something, I remember squares) and a thousand bullets to take somebody down.
Stupid game.
Second one looks neat though.
I finally got round to buying TF2 recently as well on Steam, while I really enjoy that game it's a bit of a bummer having nobody to play with, all my friends have converted to console gaming exclusively over time. So yeah I think I've played that all of 1 hour or something.
My friend gave me his copy of Shadowrun on the 360, it cost me nothing but it was still too expensive. Maybe I just didn't 'get' it, but it's probably my least favourite 360 game that i have played.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
Usually I get other people to get me games, so while some may be a waste of a gift (Mass Effect (I dunno why, but it's just not my style, the second one looks better though)), they weren't a waste of money (and thanks to suspiciously too generous parents, they were usually in packages of games anyways). Of the games I've bought myself: Pokemon Blu, TF2, Guild Wars, Star Trek Online, WoW, and I think a couple others, I'd have to say Guild Wars and WoW were the ones I got the "least" out of, but I still enjoyed them immensely.

$40 for MiniNinjas. The completionist in me got 20 hours worth of collecting stuff, but the sane me would have rather spent that time not being constantly annoyed by the controls. Minus + twist the wiimote for camera control is the worst idea ever.

FEAR 2. God. So bad. So so bad. Oh and Borderlands. Not as bad as FEAR 2 but bad.

TNA: Impact. Sadly, I only bought it for $15, I wouldn't have even accepted the game for 15 cents.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
A few games I bought then barely played:
Animal Crossing: Wild World
I liked the GCN version, so I bought this on impulse. Played it once or twice, got bored, stopped.
Nanostray
Was looking for a good multiplayer DS game to play at school with friends. This was not that game.
Assassin's Creed
Did some missions in the first main town (after your hometown). That's about it.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
I would have to say none right now. I don't buy games I don't want. I might not have played all my games to completion yet, and I might not get to them for a long time, or ever, but I always intend to go back to them.

I bought the THQ pack and have collectively only put about 20 hours into it. I like to get 1 hour per dollar, so I've got 30 hrs to go.
Impulsively bought Hoshigami, not bad but excessively bland. 5 hrs out of the necessary 20.
I got Jak X Combat for Christmas. I've probably but 10 hours in on that. 40 to go.

For me, 'splosion man. I know it was popular and was an arcade game so therefore not very expensive, its just that game annoyed the everliving hell out of me.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
I have had fun in every game I have played, so there really isn't anything I can say I regret buying.
But there has been times where the game I bought wasn't what I expected.
Such as Sims 2: Pets, it definitely wasn't as good of an expansion as I wanted it to be but I still had fun so I don't regret shelling out 20 bucks.

Re: What was the biggest waste, gaming-wise?
My dad bought Rockband 2 and Beatles: Rockband.
I think he's put an hour into it. I've put five. I have minimal interest in playing it, but at least a bit.
He also bought Wiifit.
And never played it.
To be honest, the Wii was probably the dumbest thing I could have gotten for a gift (I asked for it for christmas).
I own Twilight Princess for it. I haven't played anything on it in like...9 months or something.
My 360 and computer are so much better.
