My preferred World Conquest games are turn-based, like RISK or Civilization.

Thirded; I've tried RTS's but much prefer TBS games; Empire Earth was not one of the ones I'd attempted, though I think I still have the PC Gamer that reviewed it...somewhere - I don't recall it being reviewed as particularly good OR bad, otherwise I'd remember the review...

I have played it. Mostly just made custom scenarios that were lopsided in my favour and nuked the enemies into the ground with large fleets of nuclear bombers. Empire Earth 2 was pretty fun too, so many resources to collect through the various stages of history. It was certainly different from most others I played, and I quite enjoyed it.

I'm too impatient to play strategy games effectively. Except Rise of Legends and AoE.

When I play Civ IV, I try to build my cities up and end up decimated by a million warrior army sent by another player.

When I played Starcraft, I'd get crushed because I focused more on the future, rather than the lasers cutting the limbs off everyone.
