Having a problem with Steam.

Postby Intellectually funky » 09 Feb 2010, 07:21

I downloaded steam last night, updated and everything. But for some reason I can't connect to the store or community, I can't get on the internet on Internet Explorer either,I know Steam uses Internet explorer for connection.

How do I fix this problem? I tried making an exception for it on my firewall, updating the Explorer, a voodoo ritual but to no avail.

SO I come to the LRR Forumites to help me with this please. I tried search my problem but after a while I figured you guys could help me for sure.

in IE: Tools > internet options > Advanced tab > reset internet explorer settings.

Ever since service pack 2, that button actually does stuff, and will often help when you can get the net working on other browsers.

I'm also having a problem with Steam. Y'see, it's April, and I don't have Steam for Mac yet...

You can see how this could be a problem.

although i would hate to say steam caused it, but have you tried uninstalling it? perhaps there was a driver update in the package or an internal connection manager that screwed over windows.

generally speaking, if IE won't connect then windows wont either. IE is really built into the core of the system. perhaps check the connections, restart the computer/router/modem. sounds simple but this kind of thing has helped more times than i expected.

I prefer the Biopsy approach:

We have to end them to study them.

Again, both.

No, seriously; end one to study it - and specifically, how it ends - so that we can end them ALL.
