I started an In Nomine campaign this week. I'm keeping a campaign log on-line, in case anyone's interested.

Holy crap... In Nomine... someone else has heard of that game.

Are you gonna do the Devil voice as DM?

Honestly, when I get around to playing Lucifer I'll give him my most charismatic and sincere voice. If I ever use the devil-voice from The Drive it will probably be for Dominic. He seems the type. That or I'll stage-whisper for him, possibly with subtly stretched sibilants.

Have you run a game? Or even played in one? I haven't run In Nomine since 2006, so I'm a little rusty.

Not of In Nomine. I've only just heard of it.

Fact is, and you may faint dramatically at this if you so choose, but I'm not a big fan of pen-and-paper RPGs.

I get that tabletop gaming isn't for everyone. For me, what I want out of an RPG is roleplaying and story, which is much more the focus of the tabletop I run than of the computer RPGs (read: MUDs) I've helped to code. It's just the nature of the beast. Imagine trying to run the first session of this campaign as a computer game, for example. I expect it would take closer to four minutes than to the four hours we milked from it. :D

Anyway, I've got some great players and I'm expecting the campaign to be a huge amount of fun. :) Thanks for reading!

I'll be sure to tell my brother about this. I'll bet he'll find it interesting.

On Sunday I managed to saddle Jess's renegade demon with a guardian angel. I'm still chortling.

I don't have anything to say, especially, but I can't let this pattern break.

C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER

On a serious note, this looks neat!

Just skimmed through the campaign log. Sounds neat, although I don't nearly know enough IN to properly grok what's going on. I'll need to find a good dictionary of terms. Anyone know a good place to start looking?

Awesome!

We use Obsdian Portal to log ours. I find it really useful.

The original purpose of the log was to help the players (and me) keep track of what had happened and when, so it more or less assumes that the reader already knows the system. If you don't find what you need in the faq (and thanks for posting the link, Cybren!) then feel free to just ask questions either here or in the log itself.

Super-short simplified intro: There are three kinds of creatures: 1. Corporeal beings, such as humans and other animals; 2. Ethereal beings, such as the ancient gods, who are all products of human imagination but have taken on life of their own; 3. Celestial beings, such as angels and demons. The player characters aren't currently working for any side, but still feel they're the good guys. They're on the run, taking jobs from whoever will hire them, and trying to pay off old debts.

@Drinnik: Jess uses Obsidian Portal for her Kingmaker game, and I'm watching that to see if it's something I might want to do in the future. Do you see advantages it would give me for this campaign?

@zfubarz: How would that work? Do you want to follow the plot, like in I Hit It With My Axe, or would you be more interested in the players, like a cross between Commodore Hustle and The Guild?

Okay, questions?

Obsidian Portal is useful as a depositary for info you want your players to see, but don't want to have numerous copies of. You can add up details of the setting, house-rules and specific changes that you've implimented that make the setting different from the published setting and, most usefully, you can have the players put their character sheets online. I'm not sure if there's am In Nomine sheet, but you can C+P and rearrange to fit from a word document.

That way, if a player can't make it for some reason, you at least have a copy of their sheet if you need it.

Also, it's a good way to keep a log of the game. You've got that covered already, but it's useful to keep it all in one place. the Voyages Beyond campaign I linked is the first game my group have played that we're using Obsidian Portal heavily. We play in an Exalted game that uses the site, but not to the extent we are with the VB.

Thanks, Drinnik! It's always good to get testimonials of these things before I spend money. :)

Oh, Dale, you don't need to spend money.

Obsidian Portal is free.

My friend said you can pay for more options, like haveing maps and forums, but they aren't worth it if you don't need them. The basic service is free.

Obsidian Portal is free for players, as well as for GMs who only run two campaigns and who don't want e-mail notification or discussion stuff or a bazillion other things. If I switch to Obsidian Portal then I'll want the features; otherwise I'll just stick with Google Groups/Sites.

Thanks, though. :)

Well style wise I guess it would be closer to I hit it with my axe although I feel that they miss a lot with how hey edit, I like a lot of the decision making both in and out of character stuff that comes up with the PA DnD podcasts. Although an actually show with people acting as characters (I know that's complicated to define when talking about role playing) and stuff with you involved/narrating/playing more like CH and The Guild could be cool as well.
