Re: ClickQuest
CONGRATULATIONS! We've successfully perma-crashed a SECOND server (kind of). I got a notice from x10 saying that my site had been suspended due to "Massive chatbox getting accessed a -ton-." Now, obviously ClickQuest isn't really just a chatbox, but they didn't know that and saw I was recieving 12 requests per second, and shut it down. Cool!
Essentially, I promised them I would fix the issue and temporarily take down the site. For you this means you have to wait 24 hours for me to finish up 1.1, then it will go on a better server anyway (http://clickquest.net, thanks nmaster64).
tl;dr Two servers down, hold on for 24 hours, check my twitter for updates.

Dicks?
Re: ClickQuest
Noooo it's down! Now how can I get ahead??
...On the other hand, others can't get ahead of me. Hmm...
It really is the competition that makes this addictive (for me, anyway). If no one else is getting ahead of me I don't really care, I can wait.

Re: ClickQuest
Alright, it is late and incomplete, but you can login, click and chat, so I'll release it.
http://www.clickquest.net/
Please note:
- Colors don't work
- Online Users don't work
- There really isn't any explanation or text anywhere
- Logout doesn't work
- No data has been migrated from 1.0 (Still deciding how to do this properly with new restrictions I put in place for 1.1)
Essentially, I don't know WHY you would want to play it yet, but then I don't know why you ever did. It is there and gives a hint at what will be there soonish.
Now I need to do homework, shower, and sleep

I shall wait for the migration, though.

Re: ClickQuest
While only tangentially (maybe not even that) related, here's a placeholder "Click Quest".

...oh! you mean "here's a something to tide us over/give us our click-fix/etc. while CQ is 'in the shop'."?
Cool game but a little too reflex-oriented for my drowsy state of mind right now...

Re: ClickQuest
POLL TIME!
So, after consideration, I realized that 1.0 was pretty crude and easy to manipulate. People spent time figuring out how to cheat the system without cheating the system (Looking at you hagios, Lorithad). And as much of a giant in-joke that it is, I want it to have enough illusion of serious that those who want to treat it as real can.
That is where migration becomes an issue. I have no real way to distinguish cheaters from legit players. The thoughts I've been bouncing around are thus: (Choose a number and letter for final strategy)
1) Transfer all users
2) Transfer only users above a certain click threshold
A) Tranfer exactly, as is
B) Multiply clickcount by a modifer (ex 0.
C) Subtract a static number of clicks (ex 50,000)
D) Transfer nothing, but give returning users some sort of bonus
E) Screw you, clean slate, all clicks lost, no bonus.
I talked to Alex already and he gave me his suggestion, but I would like to hear yours. Either respond at this thread, PM me, @ reply me, email me ([email protected]), it doesn't matter. The real question is, how serious is this business?

1.0 was beta, you're allowed to wipe all data from a beta.

Re: ClickQuest
E, then we can bitch about how "things were better in 1.0" and brag about our former e-peens. Also, when will 1.1 be up, so we can refer to it as "[depressing colour (I vote mauve)][day of the week]"?

Re: ClickQuest
Hmm. On one hand if you go with E everyone who got ahead by cheating is no longer ahead. On the other hand, I lose my 100000+ clicks.
Ah well, 1D is my vote.

E - don't make work for yourself by worrying.
Often outnumbered, never outpunned.

Re: ClickQuest
Well, it seems the masses have spoken! I was going to try and migrate some of the clicks, but the FUCK YOU START AGAIN HAHAHAHAH option seems pretty unanimous.

Option A.

Re: ClickQuest
You just weighing votes on a person to person, or on a who has played/number of clicks that person had before it went down?
Cause If I had little/nothing to lose, I'd be voting to wipe clicks just to get a better chance of getting on the leaderboard. Just sayin'.

Re: ClickQuest
Karn_Evil here. (I made this account years ago).
I told fugi this before, I want all the clicks carried over. However, if that doesn't win, then none should be carried over. Going in the middle will do nothing but anger the players.
