Re: Let's Play Minecraft
I like how diverse our skills are here
Just some examples
Master gunner and fugiman are beasts at mining you guys should see the pits they excavated
Gaspode is an excellent treasure hunter he's found like four dungeons
I've mastered fluids
lying seems to have mastered redstone
And our numbers are growing

I can't find Iron. At all. I really want to play with minecarts too.

How can you not find iron? It's the most common ore!
Fugi can also set up a teamspeak server for us for when we need greater communication. We used it on Saturday a bit.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
Gaspode's guide on how to find anything:
1. dig
2. if you hit a cave explore the cave
3. return to step 1
also i found 9-10 dungeons so far, but only 5 of those are under our territory.
I can probably help with redstone/mechanics, redstone was just too buggy/laggy in SMP every time i tried to build something more fancy than a doorswitch.
I did build a collapsible bridge which is only missing the trigger as i wasn't in the mood to rebuild it and i need to, to test the trigger.

Ah, I appear to be stuck at step 1. I get lost too easily, so I'll leave the exploring to you.

Not sure I'd say I've "mastered" Redstone, it has a lot of eccentricities and the key really is persistance and trial & error. A basic knowledge of boolean logic helps too.

1) I've been slacking off on mining recently...
2) Redstone isn't that bad, I've recently perfected an obnoxious airlock system
3) The teamspeak server is still up. "CoI-TS.dyndns.org" is the address. (TeamSpeak 3 though)
4) Yayyyy new people

got my message as well, when things are up and running, I'll try and get on later tonight, hopefully the whitelist will be updated promptly.
Most of the forum goers here use steam in some capacity or another, with the overlay it's pretty damn functional and has built in voice chat, we can always try using that if people like.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
Still holding out for my message. If things go well I just might get it around the time the server updates are done.
Also, I ran out of gunpowder in SP but I was doing some experiments with explosives earlier. With some careful and well thought out digging and placement, along with some redstone wiring as a mechanism, we could rig a defense that could blow out massive chunks of dirt and sand out of the ground. Bonus points if we rig lava to flood into the newly made hole or something.
I wasn't able to due much without redstone wires, meaning that I had to touch dynamite to set it off, but according to the wiki it does the most damage across a wide radius to glass and other explosives. It's still pretty effective against sand and dirt, but for the biggest effect while using the least amount of TNT possible burying TNT in layers of glass with a layer or two of dirt over it to hide it may work best.
Oh, and if there's some empty space laying about that I can use as a test "blasting zone" that would be great...

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
My app hasn't been accepted as part of today's volley, so save me a spot to build my pathetic excuse for a home!
Oh, and another thing: is anyone else having problem with logging into the game? From both my launcher and a browser window the game gets to the "Updating Minecraft" screen and the progress bar is just stuck. Even after downloading new clients and restarting my PC it's been doing this for the better part of five hours.

Well, canna's posted a new map, so everybody can see us now. And we can finally see us. I think we need to push the North and West borders out a bit, or a lot. I just don't think we've claimed enough of this landmass.
