Ditto, that's an awesome base. Based on those pics, there would be no problems getting you into CoI.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
Thanks guys!
I've been super busy, so I haven't played for weeks.
Finished those domes in about two or three days, though.
Probably won't play until after the halloween update has dropped, if then. NSF Fellowships are swamping me...
To be honest, I'm really kind of blase about mining. I like spelunking, but I'd really just like a shitton of building materials to build with without having to dig up a huge chunk of land for dirt and sand and stone.

That is what friends are for, other Alex! Make them your slaves! Have them gather your resources while you ride on their backs to your grand castle!

Alex"? You have just the people you need over here on CoI - I know Fugi, Otto and Gunner are 'dogs'; they just LOVE to dig - I imagine you saw the strip mine from the AV Universe days (visible from space ), and they did the same over on CoI, and once they reached adminium...got bored with it (sorry) and sold the mine.
I can see 'builders' like gaspode, Lying, Jester and yourself teaming up with the 'diggers' to make awesome, awesome stuff.
...just wish I had more gumption to DO stuff myself.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
So the basic skeleton of the floor plan is now saved in Paint. I'll finish it tomorrow. I'll also add all the things like Grand Doorways and this octagonal chamber (roughly 30+ meters square, not counting the cut off corners of the octagon) that I think'd make a great speaking hall to the floor plan.
At the moment it has a load of grey lines all over it and a red 10 unit scale off to the side that's helping me keep track of where everything's supposed to be. I can leave those on, since I think you might need them, or I can remove them to "tidy up" the blueprints. It's up to you.
I'll also do another side-on cutaway picture and front on of the Knave Gallery up to the top of the Clearstory with it like the cutaway and front on pattern on the last set of designs, showing how it nests into the ground and the other changes I've made to the front on pattern and windows. I'll mark the ground with colour but leave the interior of the blueprints (except for light blue to show where windows are supposed to go), since I'll leave the materials up to you guys. I haven't actually played in weeks (I'm wary of getting more fucking migranes) so you'll have a better idea for what'll look best than I.
If I don't do any more changing things it should be finished in pixelated .bmp form by the end of tomorrow, sometime Friday at the latest. No promises, though. ;P

Then I dug a new (albeit smaller) mine, and upon reaching the bottom I started creating a tunnel to the other side of the Kingdom (eventually we'll put a canal or something there), plus all the stuff we've excavated for our other projects (like the arcology). So we have plenty of all the materials you could want. 500 stacks of stone? Check Aisle 2.
No, seriously, Aisle 2 of the storeroom is entirely dedicated to storing cobblestone. We have metric shittons of it.
In development news, I've started on a canal between the East Harbour and the Arcology to aid in transportation. The harbour entrance is hidden under the steps on the wall side of it, while on the arcology side it's hidden in the Southeast corner of the sand pit by the east wall. It's small right now, so be careful going through it.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
I don't think metric shit ton does it justice. I really want to get all the construction sites materials together somehow. I think we'd need a second floor.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
I think the sad thing is that we're probably going to use all of that metric shit ton (and more besides) given how fond we are of building disgustingly massive and complicated mega-structures.
On the bright side at least we're operating under high concept and high execution ^^

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
I just purchased! Haven't gone into it yet though (aside from the free demo I fooled around in) Hope to get a chance sometime after I'm done with work.

Now... How do we want to decorate it?

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
I won't be around again until next Tuesday or so, but I need an assignment, if anyone is willing to give me one. I'm decent at flattening mountains, if that needs to be done, or digging small tunnels, if that needs to be done. I'm also pretty good at walls and that sort of thing. I don't know this sustainable sand-mining trick that someone was talking about in the other forum, but I'm a quick learner.
Re: Let's Play Minecraft
decorate it with a . . o ^ o . . . . o ^ o . . Parapet?
Do the Catterpillar!

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
lol does it need more decoration? it's fairly fancy as it is.
the gate entrance definitely needs some embellishment. but I dunno how much we want to sacrifice decoration for security
also have we put up any signs now that we have the landline? no entrance without guide or some such.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
sorry for double post this seemed kind of important
Anem i hope you're still reading this, what's up with the weird lava/water fountain out by the lighthouse? not to mention the giant gaping hole around it?
and also more importantly for everyone, what are we saying about portals guys? there's one over in anems office, and it looks fancy as hell (other than the space being too big and possibly allowing for ghasts to spawn.) but I think wee kind of agreed that they would be very sparse within our territory, so I wanted to get it on record before he does too much more work out there.

OP has all the instructions on how to apply, I think a new round of applications is gonna be processed very soon so get on there fast, and be sure to include pictures of your work, that's one of the biggest factors.

Re: Let's Play Minecraft
anems portal room is easily secured all he needs are a pair of pillars to keep gasts out
I reckon with that exception (as its a science place) we keep them outside
Also maybe me and/or gasp could wall in an area for an internal portal

Would it be a problem if none of my larger contructions have currently been made in survival. I only just started playing alpha, and frankly I'm still crap at it

If you're LRRmon, you already have a really good chance of getting in, anyway. And don't worry, you'll get the hang of SMP in no time.
