Okay, but let's at least find out if their email support respond like native English speakers as well as how they actually deal with overage charges? If the server gets to 15-20 people at peak and 7-10 people 24 hours a day, could we run over 1 TB bandwidth? My guess is yes. In that case, it's going to go over $20. It would also be nice to negotiate ahead of time whether we can get the 30% promo price if we extend to a 3 or 6 month contract once we try it out for a month.

With Desert Bus coming up, November is now the season of giving, so I'm feeling generous. Also, assuming nothing goes wrong with my security screening, I had the money to spare.

I don't suppose you're going through the rigorous screening for the job in your signature D:?

Perhaps thankfully, that's a quote from an entirely different (and female) forum member.

So, I've held off on buying the VPS until we get some more info. if all goes well, I will most likely buy the 2GB Metered plan from HazeNET, and see how that works out.

On an unrelated note, Notch is holding a texture pack competition with the prize being a Solid State Drive. I would love it if somebody wins and sends it to me? :D (Just kidding, but figured somebody may want to know)

That does not preclude me from following in her hypothetical footsteps, however.

Agreed.

In Arcology news: The construction of the Sun Sphere has been completed.

It is currently a 20x20x20 sphere composed of dirt blocks with a 1x1x2 empty space in one vertex as a consequence of requiring access by players to the interior of the sphere. It is already visible on the server map, to the left of DuelingChainsaws' tree farm and spawn.

Next each associated dirt block will be replaced with a corresponding glass block, a procedure referred to as "glassing", producing a transparent hollow sphere that will then be filled with lava, producing the centrepiece of the LRRNAP structure.

With the centrepiece completed, work will then begin first on the walkway surrounding it and then on the base rings of the three biomes and exterior shells. (Duo, this would be the point where you'll really need to worry about your house, if the walkway doesn't hit it the biome likely will)

Once the base rings are in place, the Forest biome in the North of the construction zone will be first to be constructed. It will function effectively as one massive tree farm within the majority of a 58x58x58 glass sphere, and so will produce a substantial amount of wood to be used both in chests for storage of materials in the storage areas of the other two biomes and in smelting fuel for producing more glass in the absence of coal.

have you considered making it out of glowstone lying? it may end up being an effective alternative, they light up hell, don't see why they shouldn't light up the biomes

Weynard, thanks for the offer of the coast, but I don't think it would be large enough of an area. I'll try looking for another nearby snowy coast first, but even if I don't find one, a regular coast works just as well. I'm thinking I'll need at least a 60x100 block area, with the longest side along the coast. I'm still planning, though, so it could get larger.

Well, overages should be covered while we test it all. :)

Due south of the spawn, under the stone pillar, is my tiny temporary home. Inside there is a large chest with a lot of sand- I will be filling this chest with more sand in the process of building a flat plain at sea level for a city of small structures or for one large structure. Feel free to take sand from that chest, please ask before taking anything else. My email address is on the sign outside the cave- email me if you want anything, I'll get it on my phone as long as it's a reasonable time.

Updated Map

Also, I made a new group called LRR. Just because.

EDIT: That means that if Alex or Graham logs in they will have [LRR] in front of their name and be blue.

Also, somebody else donated $40, so there is $57 in the account. Thank you mystery man.

That's probably it, and yes it's massive.

Not as massive as the Antonov-225 I've decided I'm going to build once I find a suitable spot to flatten. (And maybe build a few hundred meters of runway as well) For now, gathering cloth is going to be priority number one. I'll probably build a flowing water-lava autofarmer to get what I need somewhere,

And just to clarify the map a bit more for new people

Image
The boundries are approximated (Especially for the Arcology) These are the project I know off. I know a few more buildings, but don't know the names or who's they are.

BTW, anybody know of a large reasonably flat area where I can build an aircraft approx. 88 meters wide and 86 meters long? I don't worry about having to fill in a bit, but I'd rather do as little terraforming as possible.

Edited trice for splelling. I really should get to bed in time. Minecraft is addictive

That's actually fairly accurate for the arcology I think.

Is it inside a deep cave and have you build a cobblestone house there already? (Including a tree with some torches on it) In that case it would be just east of The Shaft and north of Dutch Cove. There's several cave openings that all lead down to it.

Try not to dig too greedily, or too deep.

Last thing we need is a Balrog turning up.

I believe the spawn is actually closer to Wolfenstein.

@Dutch Guy, if you want you can check out the Desert to the west (bottom-left) of spawn. I'm building some stuff along the coast, but the rest is yours.
