Well, the new Bioshock looks cool!

I came across this (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/2028-BioShock-Infinite-Gameplay)gameplay video on escapist.

I liked the first Bioshock to bits. It was awesome. I don't know if I like that the protagonist isn't silent anymore, but the world looks great!

Thoughts?

I wonder how staged the gameplay footage is. It really seems like someone is playing it at times, but some parts of it seem a little too cinematic and driven. I really wonder if it's going to look and feel just like this, or if this was more of a exaggerated demonstration.

Anyway, I'll buy it. Loved BioShock and BioShock 2. I'll probably love this, I can't see why I wouldn't. At this point, I think I'd rather not learn anything more about it though. That way it can surprise me and it will hopefully have a larger effect and a bigger impact on me.

It looks like they're going for the Valve method of story telling, you know, never leave first person and give the player control over most of the game. Anyway, this seems like a cool game, maybe even as cool as Bioshock 1, I am exited.

I can understand that, as I kinda noticed it, too, but Invisible Walls on GT made a good point. It probably was a perfect playthrough. They want the gameplay to look at good as possible, and if that means re-recording it dozens of times, so be it.

And after seeing this footage, I kinda want to play this. I haven't even touched any of the previous [blank]Shock games (I'm a wimp), but this one looks cool. However, if it gives off the same vibes I felt from the prior games, that might change.

I love that the "fuck everyone up with ravens" tonic is called Murder.

They should be crows as in "A Murder of Crows".

By the way: immigration is becoming a bigger and bigger theme in the world (not only in the world of Bioshock, but, like, the whole world) It's the autumn theme of this year, it seems.

I think that it looks intimidating as a game because I don't like the scary/shocking kind of gameplay. That said, it looks absolutely GORGEOUS, and the storyline looks really awesome too.

I would have to agree with Vigafre to an extent, that this is footage of as good a HUMAN playthough as you can get.

Looking Glass Technologies -> Irrational Games have been doing this method longer than VALVe. ;)

System Shock and its sequel hold a special place in my heart right alongside Starflight, Deus Ex and Pool of Radiance - they broke new ground; pushed the limits of what could be called 'their genre (FPS, for SS)', and - unlike the others mentioned, scared the SHIT out of me to the extent that I think my life expectancy is a few months less.

The second game is what I'd played first, but lost the CD in a move, before I'd ever completed it. :( After settling down years later and seeing abandonware sites, I tried and tried and tried to get a copy of the first game working stably with DOSBox, with little success (the main problem seems that the original preceeded that interface archtype called "mouselook"), but after grabbing a copy of the second with some fan-mods for upgraded textures...

...whoa. (see above)

Now there's a "System Shock Portable" banging around that I'd found while looking for the sequel again (I'd foolishly deleted it some months after completing it to make room for something else, and I can't seem to find where I got it :( ) - sounds like they may have ironed out the issues that 'date' the first game - may have to dabble with that again.

...because, seriously - Ryan/Atlas/anyone else are just utterly unable to even stand in S.H.O.D.A.N.'s shadow.

Go. Find the originals. Realize that they are far more impressive than these watered-down 'consolized' "spiritual successors".......h-h-h-h-ackerrrrr.

I personally like that he talks. This allows the character to pick his own missions that we the players of the game can follow through for him. This makes him his own man and less of a follower then the last two bioshock protagonists. Also I think it will help with the whole building of a relationship between the protagonist and Elizabeth.

This looks neat and I need to play it along with the first two.

Yup. It looks very Bioshock. Probably the only adjective that can describe it.
