Yeah, for sure man. Time for a rest and a refresh before returning to the (somehow less bright and rewarding) world outside of the Desert Bus 4 Hope microcosm.
... I can't wait for next year.

Indeed, great job working the chat and even getting the new map running during that time. Take a breather before tackling this project. enjoy. ~t

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
So, another small LHC update. I've been doing some design work for the main office building. Its going to be both massive and beautifull in my opinion (I'll put up pics later tonight) Only problem is, its as big as the Cathedral. 350 blocks wide, 200 deep, 55 blocks high at the highest point. It is to be build from smoothstone, maybe some obsidian for decoration, and a lot of glass. The building is a symmetrical design, featuring a central lobby made entirely out of glass, with a big central spiral staircase and airbridges to connect it to the different floors. The 2 office blocks are 100 blocks wide and 200 blocks deep, featuring a wavy roof. I haven't done much of the interior design yet. Just finishing the look I'm going for on the outside. I've got it more or less how I want it. It requires 134031 blocks for JUST the exterior walls with no redundant blocks (So far anyway, binvox is not exactly good when it comes to avoiding redundant blocks)
Since this is to be a building of Science, I propose calling it the "Saunders Hall of Science" in honor of our most favorite man in a labcoat. Somebody WILL be doing science in there.

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
At the rate projects seem to be scaling (LRRNAP, Cathedral, LHC...), LRRNAP might actually be one of the smallest ones...that actually makes me even more annoyed it's taken 3 attempts already to get this far.

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
Lying, the LRRNAP and the Cathedral are the only ones even remotely finished. The design of the LRRNAP makes it a very complex and difficult build. The Saunders Hall should be much more straight forward (Apart from the central lobby, which is an ovoid shape. I really should get those pics up. I just have to get Binvox convinced the thing needs to be 350 blocks wide, not 349 or 351 :-S )
And in any way, I will be helping to finish the LRRNAP before I start the LHC. I can't take on 2 builds at the same time.

Plus the LRRNAP is easily the most functional building, so you can take solace from that.

You go to the main menu of Minecraft, click Multiplayer, and enter the url, then click Connect.

Ever since health was implemented, my desire to play this game has dropped pretty sharply. I end up just killing myself because I fall a lot. Blegh.
Can't wait until peaceful server is back up.

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
Hey Fugi, now that health is working, are you going to ban swords to cut down on greifing? And chickens because you can use them to make arrows? Oh, and don't forget about towers more than 10 metres tall, because innocent travellers might accidentally fall off of them and die.
An engine that both consumes and creates malice.

Problems will be dealt with in due time. There is an option to disable PvP. Anti-griefing mods will be in place. Give it a half-week, there will be a mod to totally disable health. I don't know what your problem is in this case, but lay off Fugi. (I also don't want an argument here, so take it up with me somewhere else if you're going for a fight.)

i NEED it to be xmas soon so i can get the pc parts i need to fix this pile o junk. (READ: everything but the case.)

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
So, a little late on the pics, but I finally got them online.
Firstly, a view of the model I'm using for the design, built in DSS Solidworks.
This clearly shows the double wings and the central hall which will be built from glass. The facade of the wings will be entirely glass as well.
And now for a view from the back.
I use BinVox to convert the solidworks model (Saved as an STL file) to a voxelized (aka, pixelized) model, and viewvox to view this model. This is it in all its blocky glory
The last image shows that the model is not entirely clean and symmetrical yet, so I will be manually transferring the layers from viewfox into separate bmp's and cleaning them up by hand
Finally a comparison of the view of Saunders hall to the rest of the LHC. It is not shown in the final position here, it will most likely be centered of the ring of the Supersynchrotron (the middlesized ring) and facing 180 degrees the other way.
Note, this model is cut off at ground level, I plan on making the central hall extend into the ground to make it the complete ovoid, the wings will have a basement level. The interior is not designed yet, but the lower 2 levels will be labs, 6 blocks high each. The lowest lab will be 4 blocks below ground level, meaning it only the upper 2 blocks are above ground. The normal office levels will be 3 blocks high (4 including the ceiling/the floor of the level above)

Wow, can't wait to see the result of the LHC.
In other news, myself, Mr_Swan, Sophira, and kanon9000 started on an adventure out to the *middle of nowhere* and started to build a settlement. Hopefully it shows up on the map soon so others can find it and the way to it. Perhaps maybe we can even get a skybridge set up to it.
