Hm, odd, I'm bugged now.

I got mobbed by some zombies, 'died', my stuff flew everywhere, but I wasn't dead.
-I could still place blocks and shoot arrows that cause damage.
-I can pick up infinite glitched arrows, but not any other items.
-Other players can't see me, but I can damage them (sorry kanon9000!)
-Hostile mobs walk towards me, but they don't actually trigger any attacks
-I can't take damage of any sort in fact (fall, drowning, fire, etc)

So I can't respawn but I can't die either. I am effectively a ghost. Help!

It happened to me too. Other than killing creeps it really limits what you can do. Unless anyone can knows of a way to fix that I've just taken to waiting for the old map to come back. enjoy. ~t

I found a way to fix it. You take about 1 heart of fall damage per client connection. Just dc/recon enough times to kill yourself, and you reset to a normal player state.

Thoughts on the LHC

Love the look of it and when it gets done it will be even more awesome.
Will it be big enough for carts? (INFINITE SPEED CARTS?)
Where did you get the schematics for it?

Hey gang, for those of you whom remember me from that other server, I am probably permanently moving over here as yet more corruption and other crud plagues that other server. Also, HI CHAD!

I'll post some more specs on the LHC tunnels when i get to it, but yeah, it should be big enough. The main tunnel has an 11 block diameter wall to wall. The 2 beam-pipes will be 2x2 blocks and 1 block apart. leaving a 3 block width path high enough for walking/minecarting next to them. Underneath is a 2 block high crawlspace for wiring and "other" purposes.

I don't really have that many schematics for it, just the basic Wikipedia info, a general interest and a lot of imagination to fill in the blanks  . Saunders Hall is entirely my own imagination.

Carts don't work in MP yet sadly... otherwise we would have colonized the whole map and built a tram system. The current map starts out in the desert too, so that reminds me of: 'Welcome, to the Black Mesa Transit system'

Carts work well as well as early steam trains really, you can ride them but anything might bork it up.

Also to the guy who goes around steeling iron doors, please replace them atleast with some dirt so the monsters can't just walk into the place.

No offense to anyone in particular, but this new map has really been rubbing me the wrong way. From exploration being impossible due to all the monsters, to building up being impossible due to being unable to get out of people's territory due to exploration being impossible, to being unable to trust anyone due to attempted swording to death when someone asked me to assist them, I don't think I can have fun with this map and am just going to wait until the old map comes back. I'm sorry.

I'm occupying myself with a small (underground) project until things stabilise again and the old map returns.

However, I believe Notch is including an option to disable monsters in the server settings.

I've being keeping myself busy by doing all the things I was procrastinating on by playing Minecraft. Hopefully it will be back up on Tuesday, when everything's done.

Took the server down to try and patch things up and restore the old map. Seems like it SHOULD work, but my internet connection keeps reseting, which disconnects me from the VPS :(

I'll try to get it back up ASAP, but having to restart PuTTy all the time is making this take longer than it should.

PS. I suggest going to http://getsatisfaction.com/mojang/problems/common and reading all the bugs there so you avoid bussing bus up. I know that wearing armor and dieing corrupts your player.dat file, requiring you to lose your entire inventory etc etc, and a manual deletion. So don't do it. :P

Will the new world be gone forever once the old world is restored? Looking at the old world Carto maps, it looks amazing. I'm just curious, that's all.

Either way, thanks for all the effort in building a great server.
Minecraft is fun again!

Doubtful, it'll likely be retained for some purpose, such as a second PVP server or somesuch, I can't see much reason right now to outright destroy it.
