Deleted Cal's dat file, meaning all his inventory is gone, and his position reset to spawn.

Should let him stop crashing the server now ;)

Soooo just so we're clear, until February we're lookin at mortal tools, being afraid of lava, not knowing /who is online and longing for /home? It's actually not a big deal; it's kind of funny how spoiled we've gotten. Just trying to figure out the situation.

Pretty much. If a good, stable version of bukkit is released, I'll install it. Until then though...

I apologize for burning down my house and the forest I planted. Thanks to everyone who helped me not burn down things that mattered to people. I'm glad I thought ahead to move my stuff to someplace less flammable.

Thanks again guys

I'm back from a long vacation/work trip. I've read through the 30 some pages that I have missed out on. I have missed out on quite a lot it seems. I understand that the OP have not been updated to reflect the changes. So I ask these questions in order to clear up some of my confusion.

1a. What is the server address/IP of the Creative Server?
1b. What is the server address/IP of the Survival Server?

2. What mods/plugins are on the servers?

3a. Has the minecart/boat glitch where a block does not load if you travel to far been patched?
3b. Are minecarts/boats allowed on both servers?

4. Has the dropping tools to get it repaired glitch been patched?

5. In general, which server is more active?

Edited for capitalization mistake.

1b. See OP.

3a. yes.
3b. yes.
4. yes.
5. both are fairly active.

as to question 4, for the creative server unfortunately yes. Tools are no longer repaired. This is fine on survival, but damn annoying on creative.

Because hMod is out forever and Bukkit is currently not working we have no mods or plugins running on the servers. This also means we admins have very little control over the server.

Has anyone had any success spawning new trees in the old map area? I got birch saplings(only cut down two that were alone), got home planted them and they sprouted normal trees.

I think a sapling is just a sapling (not species specific) and the biome it is planted in decides the species it grows into

Awww crap. Now I will have to trek out to new ground every time I need pine and birch. I will hope someday it changes.

I'd say it matters completely. If there's going to be different wood blocks, I personally would like different saplings so I can farm them.

Perhaps make it more difficult to grow trees outside of their natural biome.

Indeed. It will take me forever to gather enough pine for my alternating floors. Pine is darker that the normal trees.

I don't think it should be harder to grow them out of their original biome. As long as the climate is right it shouldn't be hindered. I mean I am ok with not having lapis in my current mine and I plan to make another in the new area but trees are different. They should transplant.

In a podcast, Notch stated that (currently) all saplings spawn normal trees, regardless of what tree they came from. It was intended to spawn the type of tree it came from, but that broke up the stacks into separate piles of saplings per tree type, which is undesirable behavior. In the future, it will grow according to the biome it is planted in.

I didn't mean outside of their original biome, I meant outside of their original biome type. Such as trying to grow a pine tree in a desert.

Oh yes of course. Sorry, it was late and I crossed words in my head ^_^

I didn't want birch in the desert, just in my snowy tundra. I was sad to have to trek out to the lapis terrain every time I need birch or pine.

I don't know if it's just me or not, but I can no longer connect to Survival.
It just stops at "Logging in..."

But I can ping the IP just fine.

I'm having the same problem as Ael, but it says "Timed Out" after a minute or so. I'll assume it's either that the server is down or that minecraft.net is hassing difficulty.
