Since you weren't responding to me in the server, I surrounded you in bedrock and filled it with chickens. :P

Oh kind and benevolent Admiral, please save me from the box of shame. (a non-teleport exit would be preferable, the command blocks seem to be broken, and we wouldn't have to be on at the same time).
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

Zaphod was having the same trouble, and I saw your post, so I thought he was you. I put him in that chicken box. :D

I've installed an emergency door for the time being until I learn redstone. However, those buttons SHOULD work now, as far as I can tell.

As a note to all, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is for everyone: I've fixed the Nether! The problem was that there were many server-side chunk errors and either as a consequence or an unrelated problem to that, there ended up being about 2000 flaming, but not dying, zombie pigmen falling into these holes in the world, which glitched the server out.

Here's one such problem if you want to check it out. The picture is pretty wild. I found about 12 more just on a cursory survey of the Nether, and there were bound to be more. I'm just imagining those pigmen saying "Derp derp derp... Hey guys! Let's have a lava party!"

So anyway, now you should be able to go into the Nether and not crash the server.

The bad news is basically just for me and King Kool, unless anyone else built in the Nether as well: I fixed the Nether by deleting it and letting it regenerate. So any structures or mining you did in the Nether is now gone and it's brand new again now.

Remember, if anything happens on the server that needs admin fixing, you can always PM, email, or text message me to get it fixed. I have the command line on my phone, so I can reboot the server at any time, if needed. As long as I'm awake, I can have the server rebooted in less than 5 minutes, usually.

1) Server/Nether problem - ahhhh. Makes sense, and props for figuring it out!

2) Server/Nether solution - oh. Haven't gone there yet, but I still feel for anyone who had set up a 'foreign office'.

3) Admin responsibilities - wow. That...that's REALLY diligent of you. MAJOR props to your assiduousness!

Inspired by the "Big Bag O' Dice" sold at Desert Bus, we now have the Big Box O' Spawn!

Y'know? If'n that box was full of d6's...you still wouldn't have enough to play Shadowrun properly. :P

Nonetheless, "Taz like! TAZ LIKE!!" :D

Anyways, progress on 'the Hosttower of the Arcane"

Got the 'observation gallery' up at skytop glassed in. Anyone who has the patience to climb all the way up those stairs is welcome.

...and if you don't want to repeat the voyage back down, the open window DOES permit you - if you're careful - to dive into a safe pool just east of the tower (careful of the 'diving platform' just about 10y above the water tho)

See my latest PM to you regarding a suggested addition to the tower. :)

First, use the right side, not the left if you want to avoid the diving board. Also, I've found out just dropping out of the tower is too short and holding forward the whole time is too far. Suggested use: Hold forward and stop about halfway down. Realign if needed when you can finally see the pool.

Oh, yeah - you definitely have to 'base jump' and guide your landing.

And it's well worth waiting for any clouds below to pass and give you a clear view of your drop zone.

I recently discovered there are few things scarier than jumping off a ledge above a lava lake and forgetting that you disabled the hover mode on your jetpack.

Yeah, I've been playing a lot of Tekkit, but still...

Yeah... Server's going to get serious lack of attention from me during DB. Part of the reason I'm ramping up community-needed projects like the spawn area right now.

Also, who left a sign for me in my secondary base? It was supposed to be a secret base. :P I know it was a Brit due to the extra u in it. :P

Alright... Trying to track down the griefer by trial and error.

Edit: I added you to the list just after you tried to get on, and then you stop trying to get on... Figures.

Edit 2: WAT.

Edit 3: Turned off the whitelist. I guess I'll just have to find out who the griefer is some other way.

Passive-aggressive signs in a base that I didn't disclose the location of.
AdmiralMemo wrote:Also, who left a sign for me in my secondary base? It was supposed to be a secret base. :P I know it was a Brit due to the extra u in it. :P
I just want to know who it is, and it's driving me nuts. I also want a reply to the latest messages I left. It's been a while, and the back and forth of sign messages hasn't taken this long previously.

I'm tempted to just delete the whole "players" folder and let everyone start from the beginning again if I don't get an answer.

That would be a very bad move. As in seriously no-one would support it and the server would probably die a cold death because no-one would trust the adminalty of it.

As a former admin on the old server, here's my advice for dealing with this situation: Put up a sternly worded letter, remind people in the MOTD when they log in not to mess with other people's shit, and install a worldguard plugin that logs the breakage and use of certain high-value and/or destructive blocks (signs, iron/gold/diamond/glowstone blocks, tnt, lava buckets, etc). Then, leave it and move on. Admin-ing requires a firm but gentle hand, and only a boot to the coot when absolutely necessary.
