I know the server is down for us...
but it's up for the mods...

so the MAP at http://lrrcraft.com:8123/ isn't working. I just want to look around on the map to see where my project is in relation to everyone else. I might want to build a road... or tunnel back to an area a bit closer to the spawn area. Also knowing which way the spawn area is would help if I ever want to make the overland trek again. I kinda got lost... I have reset my spawn point with the bed but if I hadn't I'm not sure I'd be able to find my place again if I died and appeared back at spawn town.

So I request that the map link be working again but it's not that high of a priority.

I don't think that map has worked since the old server, as it uses the dynamic map plugin. The server is currently vanilla, with no plugins.

Yeah, that link was for Fugiman's server that had to be shut down after a while, not Adm.Memo's that stepped in later to 'fill the gap'.

As DewKnight said, the current server isn't set up for this dynamic map feature, and even if it was, the link points to a server that doesn't exist anymore. :(

Well, after sifting through everything, I'll show you the trouble I've been running into:

Server start (late 2012) to December 31, 2013: 70-odd new players
January 1, 2014 to January 16, 2014: 30-odd new players
January 17, 2014 alone: 38 new players

So yeah... The server can't handle the acceleration well, and I'll need to essentially rebuild parts of it if I expect it to keep up with the influx.
FITorion wrote:so the MAP at http://lrrcraft.com:8123/ isn't working.
This server has never had a dynmap. Fugi's LRRcraft did, but this server is vanilla.

No, actually.

Wait, is it me? I know I still have a few things I need to finish up testing on and email you about. I'm going through my backlog of "todo" today.

Since I finally gave them a yes for the bone marrow transplant, they've fastracked my schedule to hell. I'm getting all kinds of tests and scans this week, and they want me to start in the first or second week of february. So I'm getting as much together as I can for everything here and business related. Don't how long I'll be extremely sick in the hospital, but I'll have my laptop the whole time. I'm hoping it's only the first couple of weeks that I feel like crap.

Nope. Not waiting for you, either, though thanks for continuing with your tests. :)

Just dropping in to say I've missed the server and I'm looking forward to it being back up. I'm 'thelagged'.

Just curious: Is the current maintenance about rebuilding various in-game/in-map devices or is it more about the underlying server/admin/scripting stuff? If it's the latter, I'm fairly Linux savvy and can offer assistance.

Some of both. It'll all depend on how much modification this needs.
Admiralmatt wrote:How do i connect to the server? i tried using the ip but it didn't work
If you're referring to the IP on the first page, that's long out of date. The current server is mc.lrrcraft.com
However, it's currently down for maintenance.

That sounds like a massive mis-installation issue, I'm actually not sure how that could have happened considering a standard install is just "click Minecraft.exe"

That's impressive for a spam bot. On topic and in the correct forum and thread.

Also semi-plausible first video.

This isn't really the right thread for general Minecraft questions I believe, but I could be wrong. Even then, it's not hard to have a bot search for a keyword (in this case "Minecraft") and post in that thread with the question.

I wouldn't call 'loadingreadyrun' a first video myself.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles, both IRL and with the server. I really enjoyed working on my jungle tree-fort and hope to continue if the server can be resurrected. Regardless I'd like thank Memo et al. for their efforts and the warm welcome I received when joining the server. LRR really does have an excellent fan-base; the rumors are true.

Surely that's more of a proclamation than a rumour? Rumour's tend to be circulated in hushed tones I find.

It's currently whitelisted for mods only while they hammer out a few technical problems caused by the massive influx of new users.

If you can figure out how to deal with doubling the previous year's userbase within 2 weeks without the server breaking again, I'm glad to hear it. :)
