What version is the server running? It keeps saying "can't connect to server" I'm new to Multiplayer Minecraft so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong

everything from 1.7.2 to 1.7.5 should work I think.
But its down now anyway, so as long as the status is not green the server isnt up

Tensen01: Server's up again. I needed to update Java.

Anyway, since the server's up again, I'm going to make sure all the technical issues are ironed out. (They seem to be.) If everything's still good by the end of Friday, I'll work out getting the Mods straightened out over the weekend.

I hope ironing out this technical issues will give you a bit of peace of mind, Memo. You deserve it.

I know what happened to the map. It heard I was coming back today and thought it would be funny if the homeless guy couldn't see to set up a new base.

Well, what was SUPPOSED to be a quick reboot turned into something problematic. I was doing a render at the same time. The second I took MineCraft offline, the OverViewer grabbed up all the RAM. So, now, I can't allocate the RAM back to MineCraft until the render is done in 2 hours. ARG! :(

Edit: Got it running again. Unstable, but functional.

OK, I'm losing faith in people, and need to revert to the last save.

1. Don't steal from anyone, especially Mods. Lurkon got stolen from.
2. DON'T FREAKING BURN DOWN THE CHURCH!
3. DON'T FREAKING BURN DOWN THE MAP BUILDING!

The server says I'm not on the white list. Can I send a PM to someone about that, or is it a temporary thing?

Not to sound too "No True Scotsman," but whoever did this is self-evidently not part of this community.

Just have to wait until the server is opened to the public again.

This really irritates me. This server is supposed to be for people to have fun, express creativity and be for fans of LRR. Its not for petty theft and arson!

@Memo: I'm truly truly sorry about what happened. Not sure how many people know that the church was modeled after your irl church so I can only imagine what you are feeling and as one human to another I'm sorry about the bastard doing that. Excuse my language.

@the rest of you: If it was one of you, there is no amount of spite worth destroying something purposefully that it possibly ruins it for everyone on the server actively.

@the culprit: If you are a member of this community I reckon you make yourself known coward and see yourself out. LRR and it's fan base has no room for this kind of behavior...I play with a limited amount of time a day, wasting it because of a hatred for someone, or because you're in a pissy mood is intolerable and if I could find you I'd personally break you. Only I'm allowed to waste my time and having my time wasted while I was wasting it pisses me off to no end.

It took us back about 2.5 hours from the time of the grief. The whitelist was put in effect just so I could see if the damage was reverted correctly. It's open again now.

I'm pretty sure the culprit was that "vinny" guy, due to testimony from another player, and some circumstantial evidence.

Im sure there is no way to do this, but is there a way to give new players monitored access?

Like the game records their moves for their first week or 10 hours of gameplay?

It seems like if someone was joining to be a dick they wouldnt be willing to commit to hours and hours.

There probably isnt.

Glad to see stuff is "fixed" sorry for people causing more problems.

It was different when we blew up the server, that was a group event that we did as a community to vent of steam.

I just dont understand why people waste their time to ruin other peoples work, you arent accomplishing anything for yourself, what do people get out of stealing digital objects or wrecking a digital building?

Hosk: Not without bukkit and mods, it's not possible. However, with bukkit, it wouldn't be needed, as I could edit-lock areas, have LogBlock running to find out who did what, and also do limited-area or limited-player roll-backs instead of whole-server roll-backs.

When 1.8 comes out, I'll set all the new folks to Spectator mode. That'll ease the constant status updates, so I won't be as anxious about getting new folks authorized, and I'll be able to read the logs better.

Good to know it's all fixed. I was wondering - it says on the gamepedia wiki for Minecraft that there's a gamerule:

"doFireTick - Whether fire should spread."

I'm assuming that, if set to False, it would at least slow down arson. Is it possible in vanilla to stop fire spreading, and if so does that have any negative impact on gameplay?

Maybe have some kind of "fire bell" for people to ring at the discovery of fire? Issues an alert and sets the gamerule?

That might just get abused. This time, I think the "fire bell" was me, frantically typing "Memo, get on here now! The church is on fire!!" when I rode past.

If I hadn't died in my spawner, been sent back home, teleported back and rode back towards my spawner, I wouldn't have even seen it.

EDIT: And of course. Top of the page again. I'm seriously not even trying to do this.
