Hey Memo, I was wondering if I could build a nether portal at my location to help me get around. I'm at -350 1800.

Genghis: Next time I'm on, I'll check it out.

Everyone: Rail Map on www.lrrcraft.com has been updated. It's about 90% accurate.

Edit: Something just happened and the server went kaput unexpectedly. I'm investigating, when I have a chance between bits of my real job.

Ah, so that's what happened. No worries, I was nearing the end of my daytime Minecraft allowance anyway.

Question to others: I was cave mining, and had just put down some water so that I could mine ores near safely near a lava pool so in essence I was bobbing around in the flow of the water. When the server comes back up, will I still be in the cave? If a monster spaws and kills me after the server comes back up but before I can get back to my character (because I was just going to throw some more torches around before the server went bye-bye), I'll wake up in bed but with all the ores and my gear gone, yes?

Your character isn't present when you're not, and you don't lose items/XP on dying on this server.

Maybe... Sounds like it could be a good idea. How would I go about doing that, exactly?

I'm looking into something that I could either host on one of my servers, or something free. Currently all I'm finding are hosted plans that are $15/mo or there abouts, and I assume that anything above $0 is too much.

Do you have experience with bitbucket or github? They have issue tracking for free.

In ancient times, Mojang had a few different issue trackers. Does anyone remember the name of what they used?

Considering how LRR things tend to operate, a Google Doc of some sort would be typical. I think that could be a mess though. The idea would to have a single solid point of access for Memo (and/or other admins) to just quickly handle requests. Maybe I'll prototype something there and we can see how it goes.

I don't have experience in either.
I could just make a Google Doc.

I could put together a Google Doc Form + Spreadsheet system if you want. Once you know the tricks, Google documents are highly extensible.

I also dug around all the issue tracking software I could find. Uservoice has a free level (single user) and seems pretty applicable.

Well, that'll be a problem... The 16 GB drive is out of space... Time to pony up some more money...

That's unfortunate. How long until the upgrade?

Also, do you accept donations?

Hard drive space, not RAM.
cptsteiny wrote:That's unfortunate. How long until the upgrade?

Working on it as we speak, and yes. As I mentioned, my money only lasts until mid-summer, and the rest of the donations probably until mid-fall. I've emailed James a couple of times, with no response. Busy dude, I assume. I'll start running calculations with the new numbers and see how much shorter the time-frames are.

Edit: Website now has a dynamic online/offline status on it: http://www.lrrcraft.com/
Therefore, if you ever need to see if the server is up or down, just check the site.

Oh cripes, please tell me the map's in the middle of a render, my place is chopped right off. Every chest, my farm, cows, forge, everything but my bed.

Yeah, it's rendering currently. That's part of the reason I can't put the server up. (If I start the render while MineCraft is running, they'll run together. If I start the render first, it'll take up the whole CPU and RAM and MineCraft can't run.) However, let me make sure by letting me know where you are. Your coords in the location list are in the middle of blank space. (I can try to restore a backup file, if necessary, if you did get chopped, and I didn't see. Please let me know quickly, as it's easier to restore while the server's down than if it's running.)

With the server running out of disk space and me needing to add more, you can see why I was trying get rid of some of the map. (Less space = less money needed) I think I got everything on the Overworld done except the NorthEast corner currently.
I'll need to work on the Nether, too, as it has the same problem of people wandering about. I'm less concerned about fine-tuned chopping in the Nether, as they didn't change the generation protocols of the Nether, so the only change is that it'd have quartz where none was before.

Oh whew, I was worried I'd have to re-setup. That would've suuuuucked.

I'm at x = 3063, Z= 1875, roughly. I incorrectly listed myself as x=3063, y=1875 in the thread, so I was worried I might've been cut in two. (In my defense, math graphs are typically x, y, z, not x, z, y. I still do not understand why minecraft chose x, z, y).

Oh yeah... Looks like you got sliced off. :( (I had you at 3065, 95 on the list for some reason.)
After the render's done, I'll try to restore region 5,3 and see if your stuff comes back. (I did see your stuff before I cut, but I didn't realize I'd cut through it until your post.)

Edit: I restored the chunk, but it's not re-rendering... WAT...

It's because I mixed up the y and z coordinate when I first posted...

In my defense, most of my math/engineering homework involving 3 coordinates looks like this:

while Minecraft is like this:

It's dumb and I hate it because it makes the middle coordinate (y) the generally irrelevant one, so you have relevant, irrelevant, relevant; instead of relevant, relevant, irrelevant.

I had a different problem. My values were negative on the list (when in fact they were + values in-game).

MM/bluebottleblues: I had you down as 210, 870 but I see you're in negatives on Memo's Google Doc. However you should be safe as you're nearer to spawn than other projects that way.

Hey Memo,

Would it be helpful to set up some kind of donate account on Paypal or something and link it on the LRR Craft site? Then we could see how far random donations take us. If we get to the point where random donations don't cut it, then we can figure something else out.

It would give people a much better idea of how they can help financially if you could tell us how much does a month of server at its current level cost?

rather than, well my money puts it to this time and donations put it roughly here.

Also, is the hard drive on the server side meaning rented or on your side meaning you own it, if its on your side, I have a spare 200 GB I can mail you, if its server side which I suspect well, see question one.
