Something tells me they probably won't agree to creative mode. Personally one of the things that impresses me about this server is how the vast majority of stuff is built with found resources. It just makes everything so much more impressive.

Also, it seems like I need to get my hands on a Nether Portal, but I've never really done that before and I'm slightly terrified I'll screw someone else's portal up, and I have no idea how to get it to link with the NetherHub. Would anyone be able to help me out with this? Thanks!

Okay, quick and dirty version. While in the Overworld where you're gonna build/light your portal, hit F3. That'll bring up a bunch of code-lookin' stuff. One of the lines will be "X:[numbers], Y:[numbers], Z:[numbers]". That's your coordinates. For the record, Y is your elevation, which we won't really need here. So take your X/Z coordinates and write those down somewhere. Then go ahead and light your portal and walk through. You will probably come through someone else's portal, that is fine. ("Linked portals" is a myth.) While Nether-side, hit F3 again and find or build your way to the coordinates of your previous Overworld location, but divided by eight. (So, if you were at 80:80 in the Overworld, make your way to 10:10 in the Nether.) Build/Light your Nether-side portal there. Voila! Unless you or the people around you are building portals at extremely unusual elevations, your new portals should now connect properly to each other.
A.K.A. Likal in some places.

Things he sees:
New Nether HUB

Uno's House
SW Village
Vithal's Tower
sky_rider19's House
Cameronville

Also, another nether HUB Update:

Moved up by portal's owner:

-New Dewford
-ThinkTooMuch's Estate
-Marcanius's Desert
-ArthurArthur's Butterfly Island

-AlexAshman's Castle
-Home for Needy Thanatoses
-Leap of Faith Shrine

-Ruke's Tiny Hut

Not moved, but Owner knows of new HUB:
-CptnFalafel's House

Not touched:
-Valkyria
-Innovative Testing Initiative
-Innersea
-ff4de's Portal
-Random213
-Nimbalor's Doge Castle
-Someone's Village
-City of Beleriand Portal
-Belerians's Prismarine Farm
-CptSteiny's Mountian Castle
-Ysmault

NOTES:
- While Taos' Unerwater Waterland and Ender Labs were moved up, I did not copy their respective tunnel designs. Could someone do that?
-There's an already built rail system out to Random123. Probably best to either move the portal up and bring the rail line upwards, or dig stairs down. I'd say move the rail line up.
-Trako Manor is housed in a custom-designed building.
-Ravine Village isn't maked in the nether.

Actually, this is no longer entirely true. It's important to take this into account, as portals now measure height as well as horizontal distance in order to determine where they spit you out. Always try to make sure your portals are at the same Z level in both dimensions, if reasonably possible.

In regards to my own post, that's perfectly fair. If the Mods/Admins say no, I will accept that, and look elsewhere for a creative server to build on.

If your issue is resource gathering, you could also see if others would want to supply resources to have you build things. (You could even offer your services to build something of their design and concept in exchange for supplying resources for both projects.)

Wait, I thought there was like some sort of hub in the nether that everyone's portals were connected to? Does that just happen to work out because of how close the divide by 8 puts everyone? I figured since my place is fairly far away from everyone my portal might be just as far away, and therefore not really helpful for travel...

Wokenclick: Your portal will be about 1/8th the distance away from everyone else that it is in the Overworld. Even if you're right at the edge of the world, you'll have to travel less than 1000 blocks to get back to spawn, versus approximately 7700 in the Overworld. That's drastically closer. =)

SixFootTurkey: Resources aren't the only issue. It's the ability to change materials and redesign structures on the fly, as well as having the ability to get a bird's eye or a long view without a bunch of climbing or pillaring or maneuvering. Simply put, I prefer creative mode.

What I've done in this case is usually build my idea offline in creative, and once I got it finished, rebuild it online in Survival. If you can get the server's seed, you can even replicate the terrain offline.

I mentioned it before, but it calculates where the exact coords should be (x and z multiplied or divided by 8, y stays the same). If there isn't a portal in that exact spot, it uses euclidean geometry to determine the closest portal within a 128 block radius, and plops you there. See http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Nether_p ... and_Nether

If your portal is on top of an Extreme Hills, it should link up fine. If your portal is below sea level, there may be linkage issues if there's another portal nearby (which is why a number of portals like AlexAshman's Castle, and New Dewford had to be moved to the new hub by other people in order for the spawntown portals to link up correctly.)

Yeah, I've heard about from a number of different youtubers. I guess I'll work out something involving minecarts so it will stay working after 1.9 hits. I suspect the server wont switch to it immediately though seeing as there still needs to be a stable spigot / sponge for it.

Because they only way for you to get back would be for you to either die in the End, or for you to kill the Dragon. And, currently, the Dragon only spawns once ever, so we should save it for a big public event.

EDIT: Actually, I guess the server teleport commands would probably work. Hrm.

I'm willing to try it out... namely, take nothing with me and so die without caring if teleport doesn't work.

Oh, and I'll happily put an Ender Chest over there...

Yeah, lets see when James can do an end raid, either as a Cross The Streams, or as a Video James. Maybe next Thursday if he plays Minecraft?

Really, there no real reason to go to the end yet, unless someone wants to build the ender ender beforehand.

Any suggestion on a biome for Nsberg? My thought was either the Mega Taiga out in the far west, or one of the Northeastern Extreme Hills.

It has to be a coniferous forest biome, with mountains and/or hills around to give it that secluded feel.

Looking at it, these two might make nice candidates as well:

I have some unfortunate news. The server crashed sometime today and parts of Spawntown has reverted again. The post office has been destroyed and segments of other structures have suffered the same fate.

There's been question as to keeping the map given the continual problems. Suggestions to remedy the problem include restarting the seed and adding back parts that are used by players a few at a time, destroying Spawntown and its surrounding area completely by using new files generated from the same seed, or abandoning the map entirely and start on a new seed with a smaller border radius to lessen the server stress. Alternatively, MasterCheese is open to anyone wanting to attempt fixing the problem with the map files, which may require sifting though approximately 10 gigabytes' worth of chunks to find the source of the errors.
