I'm running it on a calculator. ;)

Seriously, though, I'm running it on a Ubuntu 10.10 virtual server that is itself under a Xen hypervisor.

Whitelisted, though if you break the server again, torm, you're off again.

I used to be on the LRRcraft server (and then it shut down :( ). I'm CyborgAlchemist in Minecraft.
I hope to be able to come back soon and enjoy the awesome awesomeness that LRRcraft is.

Added to the whitelist.

No one's mentioned that they've been to the end.

SO!

You know how mobs can go through portals now?

I had a green friend waiting for me on the other side of the nether!

I survived, the gate is closed, and now I'm stuck there.

Also, real question: Who took out all the brick I'd laid down at the nether entrance before? If I had died, there might be no structure at all near the Nether gate now.

Also, why is there two gates right near each other? (Since you can't leave the nether anyway without crashing, what's the point of this one?)

Actually that raises an interesting question: If leaving the Nether crashes you, why did you go into it and meet the creeper? Wasn't that already a sentence to exile?

I see someone hasn't been reading the thread. All of this was answered two pages ago (about a month ago):
AdmiralMemo wrote:As a note to all, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is for everyone: I've fixed the Nether! The problem was that there were many server-side chunk errors and either as a consequence or an unrelated problem to that, there ended up being about 2000 flaming, but not dying, zombie pigmen falling into these holes in the world, which glitched the server out.

Here's one such problem if you want to check it out. The picture is pretty wild. I found about 12 more just on a cursory survey of the Nether, and there were bound to be more. I'm just imagining those pigmen saying "Derp derp derp... Hey guys! Let's have a lava party!"

So anyway, now you should be able to go into the Nether and not crash the server.

The bad news is basically just for me and King Kool, unless anyone else built in the Nether as well: I fixed the Nether by deleting it and letting it regenerate. So any structures or mining you did in the Nether is now gone and it's brand new again now.

Did you attack the pig men, KK? I was just over run by 5 or 6 of them as so as I stepped into the Nether.

I love GOOOOOLLLLLD.

(sorry)

Memo: It generated very similarly to the old way, I think. Weird.

What about the two gates near each other?

It generated exactly the same as the old way. I just reset it, basically, so started again exactly the way it was initially. I take it that it wasn't you building the Netherrack bridge and platforms then.

Regarding the gates, they connect to two separate gates in the overworld, so I left them as a possibility for fast travel.

Aham yeah.. sorry about that...
Was checking your server AdmiralMemo and roaming around with owl i fell in to a big hole of non existing chunk, without magic powers i couldn't really do anything about it and i believe me being stuck there prob caused your server to crush.

With respect,
Chaosking AKA MasterfulChaos, But mostly known as KITTY!!!

I gave you 1 job... 1 job... Don't crash the server.

I rebooted it, and now, even I can't log in. What did you DO to my server?

So are you saying he killed the server, or is there still a chance of life?

I deleted Chaos' data file and rebooted the server. It seems to work now, but where was that chunk error? I'd like to go see it to find out whether it was client-side or server-side. If it's server-side, we may have serious issues.

Me and kitty both saw it, it must be server side. When I logged in just now there were a load of skellys. The server crashed again, I don't if a skelly fell in or what. I also found another chunk error, then I checked my map. They seem to have friends.
Image
The Black square near the purple diamond to the left is where kitty fell. The other squares and rectangles are other chunk errors. Not just the black spaces but where the map has "flaws". (not sure what to call them) You can use the cords on the map to get there if you get the server up again.

This is a shot of the first error to help give you a sense of scale for the map.

I would show you, but im afraid to step in the server and break it again, by well... walking...
