I assume that the mountain is located at roughly the mid-point of the wall, which is where Castle Black is located in the ASOIAF-verse.

So he wants to build a castle where the mountain is currently located. As a side benefit, the mountain would also provide the resources with which to build the castle.

If that's the mid-point then he greatly undersold how long this wall was to be, or I completely misunderstood. I thought he was towards the end now.

Looking at the map now, yeah, that's very long and I'm not sure what I think of it anymore.

Also, if he really wants the mid-point, from what I see planned out, that'd be about 200 blocks east of where he's talking about.

I'll have to consider this. Continue working on the wall for now.

Update: I started a render, and then the server went down unexpectedly. :(

If I can get it back up, great. If not, it's due to the render eating up all the RAM.

Edit: Back up, but don't know for how long.

Edit 2: Perhaps down?

Question: Does anyone need anything off the old server? I've had it in powered-down mode for a while, using minimal resources. I'm going to delete it in a couple of days if no one objects. I doubt anything's needed, but wanted to be sure.

It looks to me like you dug into what's called an Abandoned Mineshaft (link to wiki here) that was generated with the world. If you're ever concerned about what you are digging into, the map at http://map.lrrcraft.com has a 'caves' setting you can use to check out underground structures.

If there are wooden supports and whatnot, then it's an abandoned mineshaft. If not, then I think abandoned rail. I remember exploring beyond my territory once and found an entire abandoned rail station that someone had built.

was their a switch over?

if everything got copied what could there be left?

As for the Wall. It cuts off the "north" from the "South". In my little bit of research the one in the books ends on one side at the Ocean and at the other at a mountain range. The one in the show ends on both ends at Ocean. Making it in Minecraft... it would have to end at oceans on both ends... or at the very least cut completely across the snow area we can see on the map. Castle in the center, and one at either end, and watch towers scatered along the length of it would be built as well. A tunnel through it would be at the center castle.

Alright... It's down for the time being and will need a more intense re-start, when I get some time after work.

I'm pretty sure it was. I just wanted to verify, before it went irreparably POOF and became irretrievable.

Edit: Actually, I just now detached the disk and got rid of the rest of the server. If there happens to be something on it, I can just attach the disk to the new server.

So... Question: What's everyone think about May 17th for the End Raid? It's the Saturday after LRRcon. If I can get dewknight and Osprey, along with at least 3 or 4 other people, I'll go with it. :)

I don't really care about killing the dragon. But if it means that we'll then be able to access, mine, and build in the end then I'm all for it.

Can anyone go on the Raid? If so, I might try to get in on that as well.

Umm, I can't connect to the server, I am constantly getting

"java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information"

Can anyone figure out what's causing this? I tried reinstalling minecraft and java, and turning off my firewall.

Are you using the server address "lrrcraft.com"?

Yeah the IP address on first post should be changed/removed, if at all possible, so people don't get that mixed up.

I'm also not clear on how this works and what I'd need to do to "gear up" for it. I'm getting flashbacks to my WoW days, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
