Magic the Gathering Online

Postby HungryHungryHobo » 05 Jun 2011, 18:23

Since the video on an MTGO draft got shown on the site I have been thinking who on here plays on MTGO regularly and would anyone be interested in form a LRR clan in the game?

I'm on MTGO occasionally (as BruceRytel), most often playing Commander decks that feature cards like Goblin Snowman for some reason.

I'm not on there, but if a group of people here started to run regular drafts (like, weekly or bi-weekly etc) I'd be interested in getting involved.

I signed up for it after the crew talked about it in that one podcast and then... kinda did nothing with it. It's a little intimidating. I really need to just jump in and try a draft. I would probably be down for a LRR clan or even just drafts with other forum members if there are enough of us for such a thing.

Yea I'm always doing drafts (kinda obsessed and a good way to build decks rather than just buying packs) so if anyone wants to add me and get in a draft I'm definitely down for that I'm HngyHngyHobo.

I like the look of it, seeing as my favourite thing about Magic is drafting but they're hard to organise with friends IRL and my nearest game store is ages away.

However, I already spend so much on actual Magic, I really can't start up virtual Magic as well

I signed up last night, immediately played in a nph draft.

now a little bit of back story.
i quit magic because i had limited moneys, and hated the infect mechanic since 9/10 decks i played against every fnm were infect decks with all the tricks (4 phyrexian lord things etc.) and mine was just cobbled together.

So now that i found mtg:o and it's drafts, i have figured out the biggest problem with mtg:o.

I can't get to the bank to put moneys on my debit card till friday.
I wanna play now!

I dusted off my account for old time's sake, recently, then got pulled into two Scars block drafts. Lost both first round, in spite of having a pretty good aggressive deck both times (and one of the decks I faced had no focus... was he infect, or wasn't he? I don't know.).

A could be infect deck beat me last night in my draft.

Though that was mainly because it was my first game using mtg:o and i had no idea how to trigger effects like the black acolyte thing that sacs itself...

We should form a clan. A clan of people who run. and who are ready. And who load.

LoadingReadyRunners, you might say.

I want to get back into magic, but my only friend who plays is some sort of merciless card daemon so it is no fun to play with him. I would be all sorts of into a community that plays online. I just don't know anything about the game beyond what a land is, it's been over 10 years. Can anyone point me to a guide that tells me the basics, like what a draft is?

The wizards site has a rules PDF to get you started and a list of all the different formats.

But really, the best way to learn is to play with someone else after reaidng the pdf. Ask your friend to nerf his deck a bit to help you get into it

There is a Loading Ready Run clan up on MtGO called Loading Ready Magic but only one clan member called hngy (and a bunch of other random letters). If any of you are going to join in shall we go to that one or should I set up a clan?

Note to self. Make sure you concede the game not the match, specially in the first round of a draft... there goes $14.

And in the second round my opponent was afk and got elminated for not showing up... So is this an average occurance or did i catch a rare draft where everything goes wrong?
