Okay... we need to get this moving. Going with the DeathNote theme the "bad guy" is Kira. Master Gunner has identified at least one Kira (there may be others) and I can vouch for him. So in the interest of getting things done...

Killing off a neutral is not really what we are going for, but at least we will have one less dead body in the morning (hopefully). I agree that we can't just keep doing nothing.

Wait... So you're vouching for Near's identification of Chihiro as a neutral party, and are doing the exact opposite of what he suggested?

Re: Yakuza - Day 3
That's not quite accurate. He said that Chihiro was Kira. He's assuming that because Kira only brutally murdered criminals that we can trust him. I don't think we should trust Kira with godlike powers, and should kill him while we can.

neutral are always spanners in the works. They rarely help the town. If fayili turns out to not be a neutral, we know gunner is unreliable.

Well, now we have a good idea of who the yakuza are. Kira's faction are their biggest threat.

Through the time-honoured method of a random number generator, and it being clear that at least half the accusers are yakuza:

Re: Yakuza - Day 3
Aeric, you say you can vouch for Gunner. How exactly?
Meanwhile, I'm inclined to vote for Fayili, purely because Kira's pretty much a bad guy, and if she's neutral it means we know Gunner's foul. I'll wait till tomorrow to cast my vote however.

neutrals are usually SKs, occasionally survivors. You could be a Miller, but i doubt it. Ok, we're not getting a mafia, but chances are we're getting rid of an SK, that sounds like a good idea to me.
@gunner how does voting for Fayili make us mafia? Surely having an SK around to continue killing off townies (statistically more likely) suits the mafia perfectly. Seems like they'd be keen to take out known townies and let the SK keep hitting townies as well. Killing an SK is better for town, because a longer game is a better game for the town. Of course that's assuming Fayili is a SK, but as i said above, neutrals usually are. Either way it's better than killing a townie.

Re: Yakuza - Day 3
Like I've said earlier, a vigilante/serial killer is the biggest threat to the Yakuza, especially given the current state to this game, and the Yakuza is the biggest threat to the vigilante/serial killer, since both groups have kill abilities that require far less people than half the town to agree to make them work. The neutral party will survive longer if they can take out a couple members of the mafia (less people with a common goal to share intel, and one of them may have an additional special ability), and the Yakuza will survive longer without the third party (as then only the town, which they can influence, can kill them).
The town would, of course, likely survive longer without either, but a known element is less of a danger than an unknown element.

I disagree. Cops are the biggest danger to mafia, because the way for a town to win mafia games is to get as much information as possible, which takes more time. We've seen time and time again, the longer a game goes on, the better the chances of the town winning. More days means more chances for the Mafia to slip up and give away who they are and more nights means investigators get gather more information on the different players.
Serial Killers (SKs) makes games go faster because they increase the number of people being killed. Particularly early in the game, chances are Townies are going to get killed because there are simply more of them. SKs become a greater threat to mafia as games wear on because the chances of a random hit on the mafia increase, but early on, it's better for the mafia if lots of townies die.
Off a potential SK will help us immensely because the number of townies dying per turn will reduce, so the game will get longer and longer, meaning we get more info and a better chance of rooting out the mafia.

Do get to at least find out who everyone was?
Maybe we need to take a break from mafia for a while, or try another format.
