DNS records can take a while to change over (up to 2 days). Probably should have mentioned that.

EDIT: Just pinged tf.lrrcraft.com and it redirects to the IP you specified, however it does NOT redirect to a specific port. If 27015 isn't the default port, you'll have issues.

Also, all my requests timed out so perhaps the Anarchy server is unresponsive? I dunno.

EDIT 2: And messing with steam shows that it doesn't save the hostname, it saves the IP of the hostname at the time of being added, so you have to re-enter it anyway. Damn steam.

I was playing on the server earlier (although I connected directly to it) and it seemed fine. We'll give it a few days and see what happens.

Yeah, I played on it as well. The issue seems to be that Steam doesn't save the ip address of the server as "tf.lrrcraft.com" but as the actual IP at the time you entered it (aka 64.64.17.171). So you have to add a new server and re-enter tf.lrrcraft.com as the address.

I am currently deleting steam, not hateful with it just to free up space, then going to reinstall it, so all the stuff I've gotten downloaded in will be gone, and I can start from scratch.

The yearly TF2 Halloween Update should be out next week. Last year's update was the Mann Manor map that's been one of the player favorites on the LRRcraft TF2 server, so I can't wait to see what frightful innovations this Halloween brings.

It's actually out now. We got the pumpkins, the masks and the Horsemann out in certain maps. Our server doesn't have it yet. I'll see what magic I can do.

I got lucky and jumped in the Anarchy server right as Mono was almost dead, so I killed him.

Anarchy's actually got it up and running? The admin doesn't even know it exists! Oh and gifts won't drop there. I don't think it's registered. I'll also look into that.

Now if I may make a suggestion, I was wondering if we could put a password protection for the server, to make sure it just us. Don't get me wrong, some random people are good, but I don't want this server bogged down, with high ping, and trolls all the time.
It doesn't matter that much to me one way or another just a thought.

Anarchy actually actively recruits so keeping their server open is better for their anti-clan promotion. And usually a few admins are on or at least on-call if any problems get seriously out of hand.

Also, it makes me realise just HOW OLD I am because I remember having a similar discussion about our Fortress Forever server many years ago!

Valve released some sort of update to TF2 today, and now it crashes whenever I enter a game. I had to play L4D2 instead. I'd forgotten how angry some L4D2 players are. Here's a sample of the text chat from the game I joined, sanitized for sensitive readers:

Guy 1: [slur], don't [intercourse] with me, i'll find out where you live.
Guy 2: bring it, [epithet].
Guy 1: where do you live? i already KNOW ur in the us

Long story short, I couldn't pay for a beefy enough server any more, and Vanguard offered the use of his friend's server, so I pointed tf.lrrcraft.com to that instead and called it a day.

If you can't connect though, that is a problem.

No worries. I haven't been managing to keep up to date with the forums, thanks for the update. I wish I could have contributed to keeping it going, it was a nice server.
